Canyon Auto Repair Inc reviews
17My Jeep Wrangler 2014 had been thru hell, I previously had a mechanic shop out in SE Portland that did shoddy work at best, and after several returns on repairs that were not done right, I gave up and searched for a new mechanic. That's when I found Canyon Auto Repair in Tigard. I had first contact with Thomas, the repair shop manager, and he made an excellent impression right from the start. He really listened to the issues I had with my Jeep, and scheduled for me to come in to have it thoroughly inspected. As my husband and I suspected, gaskets, oil cooler destroyed, and the entire cooling system filled with oil and coolant, mixed. Due to having 145,000 miles on it and previous bad history with having gaskets, oil cooler, radiator, hoses, thermostats replaced in the past, only to have repeat problems, we agreed it was time for a new engine, and to have all hoses, radiator, water pump, thermostat and other parts replaced. Thomas took the time to shop around for the best re manufactured engine for my Jeep, and after getting a quote, I did call a couple other reputable shops to compare, but Thomas had the best price, beating the others by a couple grand, or better. As soon as the engine arrived, he called me up to come see it, and it was so beautiful, and shiny, brought tears to my eyes! We paid most of the repairs up front, and financed the rest thru Koali, the finance company they use, and Thomas helped me set it up right there and then. Seriously, this was the customer service that I have been looking for for years, such a nice man. Long story shortened, he made sure they got right on it, and had my baby running like a dream about a week later, which is fast considering what a huge job this was, everything was replaced, and up to Jeep/Chrysler specs! He even made sure that the mechanics put the right coolant in. Jeep Wranglers that are 2012 or newer MUST have OAT coolant, other coolants, which are much cheaper, will damage the engine, which was one of the problems that I kept having with prior shops, they wouldn't listen to me, but Thomas new exactly what the Jeep requirements were. Now that's awesome customer service. I am convinced that if I had found this shop years ago, I could have saved myself thousands of dollars, and so many sleepless night worrying about my Jeep. Trust me folks, I don't usually write reviews, but I had to share my story. If you want prompt, fair service from people with integrity, that will treat you like family, like you matter, go here. This is my shop from now on, and ask for Thomas, a good, kind, and honest man, he will take care of you! Margaret Savage.
Took our car in as the ignition was having problems and our ABS light came on. They had good reviews so we felt confident going in. They had our car for over a week during which they changed what they thought was the problem several times. Was finally told it was ready- upon pickup all the break lights still came on. Was charged $1000 for them to replace our ignition $700 of that was labor. They flushed our transmission after was asked them not to, and still charged us.we left with our car with plans to take it some place else to have the brakes fixed as our overwhelming impression was they didn't know what they were doing.maybe they don't usually work on Ford's but it would have been nice to know that upfront. I also think it's incredibly unprofessional to do work we asked them not to and still charge us, especially when the car is still not fixed.
We got their flyer in the mail, checked out the reviews and went in for an estimate. We got pretty lucky because they were running a really good brakes special. I was able to easily schedule an appt and they got my car in and out within two hours for front brake pads and rotors. All under $500. AND they told me our car was in great shape. I was shocked because I assume it’s like going to the dentist-always more work needed. We had a great experience and would completely trust them to do more work on our car when it’s due!
Awesome place to have your car service quick friendly manager John is great best prices I have 4 cars they all come here
They spent about 2 months getting my car back to me. It was trashed inside when I got it back. Hood shakes on highway. They say they have a lifetime warranty, but 'miraculously' dont have anything in writing. Refuse to redo repair in spite of 3 other shops telling me it was shoddy work. If you're a woman, expect that youll be taken advantage of! VERY DISAPPOINTED I also notice in other reviews that not once does the owner attempt to make any attempt to "right" the bad review. They simply throw it back on the customer! Sad this is how sooo many businesses behave.
Brought our Toyota in because of the maintenance light, tire sensor, and headlight bulb needed replacement. They misdiagnosed the issue and didn't fix it properly.
They said the tire sensor was due to low tire pressure, but when we received the car back, sensor light was still on and when having tire pressured filled elsewhere in the past, this never resolved the issue.
Headlight bulb needed to be replaced. High beams worked, but regular headlight did not. They diagnosed that it was a loose connection. The light still didn't work when we got the car back.
They returned the car back to us after stating they did an oil change and that both of the other issues should have been addressed. They had us return to get the light bulb for the headlight replaced and still charged us full price.
I will never trust them to diagnose or repair anything in the future, and I have my doubts if they even properly replaced the oil.
Have taken numerous vehicles here over the past few years. Always had a good experience; fair prices and easy to work with me on a tight budget. Thanks!
Excellent service. Consistent communication quote was on par with actual done price. Great job and friendly staff. I will return if need be.
Called a few shops around for a quote and this shop was the winner. In no time I was there and they did everything I needed while I waited! Fast and professional!
They charged me $1000 to "fix" a rubber gasket and a valve in my truck.
The obd codes never cleared so I couldn't get the truck to pass deq.
Took it to Firestone, and they removed debris from a sensor and reconnected a hose, which cleared the codes. That cost $100.
Don't use canyon auto, they are not competent and charge way too much.
Not happy with the costly service plus I had to repeatedly take my car back. For the same problem. I was was told one of the times because of their Missed diagnosis That I would not have to pay labor just for the parts. And they charge me for the labor anyway.
Thought the shop was honest, fair, and responded and explained things clearly and accurately. Good shop! Thank you Joh n!
Nice clean shop, great people, knowledgable certified mechanics. Great place from reception to exit. Highly recommended.
Jim and his team are sound mechanics who deliver prompt and quality work at a fair price. This is enough for me to keep doing business with him. But on top of that, Jim is focused on giving good financial advice. I'd go so far as to say that he takes a fiduciary role (for car repairs) in that he has discouraged me from doing work that he thinks isn't worthwhile (such as replacing a battery prematurely) or today he recommended that I take a small key problem to a key shop where they would charge less. I personally recommend you take your car to Canyon.
Good people! Very helpful and considerate, I had bad experience with shops in my time but this shop text me and lets me know the status of the work through text. Definitely new to this experience. I came to Portland to spend time with some family for thanksgiving, even though it was the holidays they worked me in there schedule and they got it done. So thanks to the canyon auto repair shop I’m able to make it home safe stress free….
I'm a first-time used car buyer and Jim at Canyon Auto has helped me avoid buying two lemons so far-once by doing a pre-purchase inspection for me and once just by answering my questions about the car on the phone. A good, honest mechanic shop on a street peppered with used car lots is worth their weight in gold. Thanks for your help! I'll definitely be back.
Excellent service. I was treated with respect and dignity from the first call before they even knew what problem I had or that I would eventually be a customer.
The repair was exactly as we discussed, completed on time. The post-repair report was top notch with clear guidelines to help me move forward with other items discovered if I want to. There was no pressure for last minute add-on services or even pushing for the other repairs.
Based on my experiences, I plan to return and will trust them to work on my vehicles again.
