Note: this is a very large campground that seems to be family-oriented. That said, you are close to a huge beach and it's easy to find peace and space there. The bathrooms are clean and I recommend using them at night before bed, when they are undoubtedly empty.

Didn't end up staying.

We arrived and purchased firewood, before getting to our site.

Site we booked turned out to be very poorly designed. Fire pit was right against the edge of the site and lots of skunk cabbage around.

We asked the host about changing sites to one that was empty and not reserved. We were told it wasn't possible because it had electrical hook up. I would have been more than happy to pay the difference but this was somehow not possible?

We left and booked a hotel for the night, and then found out at our next campground that the firewood we purchased was completely soaked, and completely, completely covered in mold. Very unhappy that we stored it in our van overnight.

Nice park and campground right on the coast. Can hear the ocean but it is not visible from the campground. Water spigots are available for drinking water throughout. Sites are small and tight, so don't expect a lot of space. Some of the sites will not accommodate trailers. Every site has a fire pit and picnic table. Bathrooms and showers are also available. Water for the showers is not very hot. Be prepared for wind and rain.

Nice park, maintained bathrooms. A lot of standing water when it rains. Easy access to the beach.

Campground right off the beach, you can hear the surf which is quite soothing. Many of the sites are in the darker Forest but a lot of them are also in the open area with lots of sunshine. The campground has not been rebuilt or modernized in recent years so bigger RVs might have some trouble getting in.

This state park offers Oceanside camping in 3 loops, as well as Yurts, some of which are pet friendly. Numerous RV sites with full hookups. Bathroom facilities also have showers. Check in is easy. Camp hosts are friendly and available. Superb location. Easily saw more than 10 eagles. The Cape Lookout trail itself is a fantastic 3 mile trail to the tip of the cape, and is great for whale watching during migration.

Great campsite! No electric but spigots for water and hot showers are great. We booked our site two days b4 arrival, since it’s the end of the season it had several openings. Loved the beach access.

Be careful of leaving too little in your site. I left a blanket on a clothesline to dry in my campsite while I went hiking for the day. The camp host threw it out because I didn’t leave anything else in my site even though I was occupying the site for multiple days. I sleep in my vehicle and keep a clean site. They said if it’s there after one they throw things out. Didn’t realize I had to worry about the hosts taking my things.

Nice large State Campground with tent and RV sites, flush toilets, sinks, water hookups, and near the ocean. Beautiful views and gorgeous sunset's.

This campsite is tops and in high demand even after the Summer season.
It's a popular campground. So, don't expect serenity especially during the Summer.
But you can't beat the location. Beachfront and tree lined.

They offer everything from bike/hike tent camping, group sites, RV sites, cabins, yurts, and plenty of tent sites with showers and bathrooms available.

Spigots are plentiful and nearby most sites.

There's just something about a campfire while listening to the waves.

ProTip:
You can reserve a site 6 months ahead of time, and I highly recommend it. This year the sites became available at 6am. But in other years it's been 12am. 6 months to the day of when you want to go.

Beach bonfires are my favourite activity.
Things I'm not overly thrilled about:
The noise during peak times. It's a population dense campsite. Families or groups just doing their thing can be loud.
I always camp in D loop because there's nothing behind us but nature.

Beautiful location for a campground right off the beach. There are some nice sites, but some of them are just flat ground with no cover around them. Loop A in particular has no privacy between camp sites. Was very quiet when we visited, and really enjoyed our stay.

No ocean view. Yet you can hear it. Short distance walk over a sand dune to the shoreline. Clean, quiet and dog friendly. Campfires were allowed. Tillamook nearby for provision.

It’s definitely a great place for a short getaway as it’s only about 1.5 hr drive from Portland. We were in A24 site which is close to the beach entrance but also is in quite an open area with no trees around. Even though campground was full, it didn’t feel busy - probably sound of the ocean was drowning out all of other noises. There is a lot of morning dew and everything gets wet, so it’s better to put all things inside a car for the night (especially matches, logs, any clothes).
Also, if you decide to go for a walk on the beach in the morning, it’s best to not leave much stuff around as birds would come snooping around (I got my plastic ziplock with toiletries picked at by birds). We stayed on Sep 10 and camp fires were allowed (as well as fires in the beach). Might be too cold to be there if/when fires aren’t allowed.
You can get a bundle of logs there for $5 a bundle (logs were very dry and easy to work with). Overnight camping pass also gives you free parking for the next day for any of state parks nearby.

Gorgeous! Right on the beach, friendly Park Rangers. Pretty dog friendly. Would definitely camp again.

It’s a crowded state park campground with icky bathrooms but it’s worth every bit of ickyness! Honestly, it’s super quiet and oddly private-feeling considering the usual capacity. Can’t beat that beach! I’ll be back again and again!
