Carson's Bistro, Grants Pass OR

Last night, January 12,2024 they had a beautiful wine and food pairing dinner. My husband and I had a really great time. Everybody catered to us in such a friendly manner and the food and the atmosphere was perfect —money well spent.

I eat here often with my partner, this is an excellent resturaunt with perfectly cooked salmon. The fresh well prepared vegetables are most delicious and still have a nice crisp. Love the cream ale on tap, hard to find in most local bars. The chantilly cream is so creamy and light on sugar, sometimes better than the dessert itself. The pear pastry tart was the best dessert we have had here. Garlic mash is the best mashed potato in town. Everything is fresh and Jessica's service is always polite and just the right balance of attentiveness. The owners are very friendly hard working people who prepare a well balanced meal. The atmosphere is calming and the music relaxing. The bathroom smells great and is always clean with cute feminine decor. I truly love the low lighting after a long day or week. Great for date nites, anniversary, and birthday dinners.or just a night we don't want to cook. Carson will come out and deliver the food he has prepared on occasions when they are not too busy. I love that the chef checks to ask how everything tasted and assuredly if you ever have a critique they do not take it personal but adjust to satisfy. I am a hard to please foodie and would highly recommend trying this when you are in town!

Had a great Grilled Cheese sandwich with Chipotle Chicken soup (daily special) for dinner last night, my friend having the Steelhead. We each had a glass of wine along with dinner. Very enjoyable!

The food and service at Carson’s is always excellent, even with a humble soup and sandwich. The atmosphere is quiet, making conversations easy.

Reservations are highly recommended as this is a small, but popular bistro.

First time trying Carson’s Bistro and I’m so happy I chose it for my 10th wedding anniversary. Delicious food and lovely service. I had the brisket and hubby had the meatloaf and we both had peanut butter pie for dessert. We’re definitely planning on going back to try other items!

Absolutely loved our first time here! The atmosphere is so gorgeous - inviting, simply romantic and surprisingly intimate. The staff was amazing and attentive, the dishes were incredible and we have just fallen in love with how well thought out everything is. Everything down to the finishing touches on the dishes was perfect! Before we even had our food we were already planning our next dinner here so we could try something different. Thank you for creating such a gem of a restaurant here in our little town!

If I could give this place more than 5 stars I would. We came in and said we had a reservation. I got a befuddled look from the server and said she would be right back. A lady comes up with the reservation book (she turned out to be one of the owners) and asks who I made the reservation with and I stated I had called earlier. She said she must have made a mistake and got us seated right away. It turns out we were getting sat 30 minutes after they closed. I looked in my phone and realized I had accidentally made a reservation at a different place. I let her know this and she was just happy that it wasn't her fault. We offered to leave and she wouldn't have it. Not one time did I ever feel like her or her staff was upset we came in late. I run a restaurant and I know how frustrating this can be. She was incredibly nice and made us feel welcome. Now about the food. Hands down the best food I have tasted in a very very long time. Carson (the other owner and chef) delivered the food to our table personally which is a great touch. He made sure to check back on what we thought and the only word I could come up with was phenomenal. I highly suggest if you want a great atmosphere, excellent service and phenomenal food you stop by here. I promise you won't be disappointed.

This place is an absolute gem. It's now my go-to dinner spot. Outstanding across the board!

I didn't actually eat here because they don't do takeout. I really don't understand a restaurant that can't just put their food in a box. And don't tell me it's a quality thing.nobody expects their takeout to arrive home all hot and fresh but we do it anyway because sometimes we want a good meal but are unable to eat at the establishment. Disappointing.

Simply put, this place is amazing. Definitely try and get a reservation. My family enjoyed a wonderful double date night here recently and can't wait to try more items. I wish we would have met the chef behind all the creations we ordered. Apologies if we were extremely loud before closing! The bar tender/server was very understanding of our loud southern ways.

Update - been here many times since our first review. IT IS STILL AWESOME! This time we, again, had the gourmet meatloaf with their own custom bbq-saucy-ketchup-yummy-gravy. Top notch. Ribeye was VERY tasty, flavorful. The dessert was a peach, mango-something sorbet - absolutely AMAZING! We recommend reservations to ensure you get in. Menu changes often. GREAT FOOD. Great atmosphere. Great service. We are impressed. We had the gourmet baked macaroni-n-cheese as an appetizer and that would have been enough to satisfy our cravings but then we received our entrees. I had the salmon and my wife had the meatloaf - both were killer. This is our new go-to place for a nice dinner in Grants Pass. Prices were reasonable for finer dining.

Carson and his wife do an exquisite job not only in presentation, but in food quality. I often bring friends from out of town here and they are absolutely impressed. The chef’s sauces -like the one that comes with the seared Aji tuna just puts the dish on another level. All desserts are hand made by Jolee the co-owner. The crème-brûlée is rich and delicious. Good wine list, along with a professional suggestion to compliment the wine with the food. They also did a great job inside with the ambience of the restaurant. It is fine dining as it should be- an experience.

Carson's has amazing food. The service was exceptional. I loved the homey feel. I will definitely be eating here again.

Great to have Carson's back as a wonderful restaurant to go and fine dine. Wonderful service relaxed atmosphere and beautiful for a special date. Quiet and romantic. And of course the food is unusually presented in always great to eat.

Excellent service and wonderful ambiance. Food was delicious. Salad, brisket entree, and flourless chocolate cake for dessert. Highly recommend this little gem of a restaurant.
