A lovely spot at the base of the St. John's Bridge. There's a boat ramp there to get on the Willamette river. Nice grounds, picnic tables.

Beautiful park under the St. John's Bridge. Benches face the sun and can be used to soak up what little of that we have this time of year. Bonus: If you walk across the bridge there's a little "window" that you can open to look straight down below. Very fun.

One of Portland's best kept secrets in my opinion. It's incredibly beautiful here, the hike back up to your car can be a bit brutal but it's definitely worth it. I cannot do this places beauty and uniqueness justice just by this post, seriously check this place out!

Great walk but some of the people there are sketchy at best even in the day time. If you go alone make sure to bring some form of self defense.

After we grabbed our lunch from Homegrown Smoker (best vegan Philly cheese steak BTW) we came here to stuff our faces. It is clean, and quiet. Trash can is located little outside, but it makes the park look cleaner. There was some wedding prep going on, I think it is safe to say it is a popular spot. Nice view depending on where you are sitting, but not all benches are in the shade. Good park overall.

Beautiful park to walk through and see the Willamette. Tons of green space for dogs and picnics right under the bridge. Just lovely.

Nice views of the st John's bridge, a lot of green space, access to river and a boat lunch, a lot of green grass to relax or play sports, lately there are more shady people hanging out under the bridge, but over all beatiful place to spend your Saturday or Sunday at, there is a dock that can be used for swimming as well.

These poor photos don’t do this park justice. Watched the ospreys soar around the bridge as the sun slowly set behind the coloring trees of Forest Park. There is something here for everyone! Enjoy!

I love this park so much. Great place for photography, picnics and a concert. So many events here for good reason. One of my favorite parks in the city for the bridge view and the space.

Not a lot of amenities but very well maintained park. Did not see an actual playground but a nice manicured field under the bridge would be nice to walk a dog or play frisbee.

Situated on the North Portland peninsula on the east shore of the Willamette River, the park's namesake comes from the twin 400-foot-tall gothic cathedral-like towers of the St. Johns Bridge directly above it. The 23 acre green space has several walking trails, picnic benches, and a floating dock extending into the river. Set away from bustling downtown, the quiet area boasts a quiet community feel and natural respite from the city. Bring a camera for the sights and a picnic for the lawn.

A municipal park under one of the bridges, with buttress that echo Gothic cathedral windows. Not quite what the name conjures up.

This is probably one of my favorite bridges of all time! If you are a bridge fanatic, you should check this bridge out! Cathedral park has great views of the bridge and has lovely trails to go around it.

Come here for sunset photos or for a nice stroll in the morning. Great for family or friends too

Cathedral Park nestled right under one of Portland's most architecturally beautiful bridges has really cleaned up since I lived here before. This park is right in the heart of St. John's wasn't always on the list of great places to go but they have really turned it around. It has shade trees, plenty of picnic areas, oodles of parking and great lawns. Bonus for those of you who love an industrial vibe. The railroad is on one side and the river with tugs and barges on the other. Small beach areas allow access to the water. It's a hidden gem of a getaway right in the city.

Very well kept. Nice busy walking path. Beautiful views. Homeless along the rocks, so just be mindful. Parking was easy. Multiple parking areas. Boat launch on one side.

Cathedral Park has never been a let down.it's a large park with endless activities available.from picnics to water skiing to numerous music festivals all summer! If you haven't been here yet your missing out.the only small downfall is no playground for the kiddos but plenty of green grass to run and lots of fun places to hide when your playing hide n seek.

Despite active neglect from the City of Portland, this park shames civic leaders by being a gem.

When it comes to city/civic services, North Portland, particularly the Peninsula and MORE particularly, St. Johns, is not only neglected, but abused. And that's for basic services such as utilities and public safety.

When it comes to parks, the area is even further neglected, and city leaders outside of NoPo must HATE that the most beautiful bridge in Portland, with the most creatively sited park around is in this part of the city.

Come marvel at the high gothic arches of the St. Johns Bridge, then stroll beneath them amid the similarly arched concrete bases, all the way to the riverbank. Walk out the swimming dock and look up directly at the bridge in awe.

Now, imagine that the city invested a fraction of what would be needed to maintain drainage and the lawns. Keep restrooms and water fountains clean and in working order. Develop and run programs in the wide open spaces here.

But, then it might be crowded with "outsiders" from other parts of the city. And they might move to St. Johns, and the as-yet least gentrified part of Portland would cease to be so.
