Coos History Museum & Maritime Collection reviews
16I showed up and it was closed for maintenance! Nothing was said about it! Your site said it would be open!
This was a great venue for the Coos County Democrats to hold their President's Day Fundraising event!
Wonderful displays of Coos History. Went with a group of young scouts and there was a lot of reading needed to understand the displays.suggest scheduling a guide. On free Saturdays there are kids activites as well.
Wonderful people and great place to visit to learn more about the city and county. Also one of the best place to do research as it is also the 2nd oldest historical society in Oregon with records on site.
I hand lived here most of my life and still found this to be very interesting and I learned quite a bit about the history of our area
A great visitor attraction and a must-see when in Coos Bay, plus there is an awesome souvenir shop! Bought friends/family some great gifts!
Lovely experience, plenty of local history to be had. Coming from a maritime family I thoroughly enjoyed our trip to the museum. They have some really beautiful wood carvings, some of the best I've ever seen. It's very important to keep our maritime past alive and Coos Bay History Museum is doing their part. Well worth a trip.
It looked like a cool museum. To get in was 22.00 for a family to get in. Maybe next time we will pay to get in. Has a cute little gift shop. The staff was friendly and welcoming
The museum had several exhibits with many historical items on display and a room with information and examples of myrtlewood carvings. However, the most interesting part of the museum was the sign out front which told of the story of the lynching of Alonzo Tucker who was killed by a white mob in 1902. The museum also goes further into explaining Oregon’s complicated history with race as the only state accepted into the union with racial exclusion laws in their constitution. I briefly lived in Oregon, but I had never heard of many of the things I read about in the museum. I recommend going for the history lesson.
Great training. The space is amazing. Educational gathering for non profit leaders in our area.
I went in just to see if I could find some history on the 1910 house I bought and got the best customer service experience. The people I met were so willing and eager to help me out. I work in the health field so I thoroughly enjoyed the healthcare exhibit upstairs. I can't wait to get moved to North Bend so I can explore more history. Thank you.
Was a very nice place. Wish there were more antique stuff to look at. And more historical history
Great little museum with info on the region and maritime topics. 2nd floor A-Z exhibit is fun and informative. Quick walk across the parking lot to some new local eateries and ice cream shop. Perfect roadtrip stop to stretch your legs and grab a bite to eat.
Senior tickets for this museum for $7 per person I felt that was a little overpriced for a small museum like this. It's new and nicely laid out you have two floors. The staff was helpful and friendly. So I guess I have to chalk this up to my contribution to a non-profit historical organization.
The venue for the 2 final Oregon Coast Music Festival events were held on the south side of the COOS History Museum. The music was delightful.and what a setting for music. Wonderful afternoons.both Saturday & Sunday. What a welcoming spirit from OCMA staff.and the hosting site. Well done! Certainly a community resource!
My son, grandsons, and I visited the museum during their trip here from Denver this summer. The staff and volunteers are so pleasant and helpful! We also parked in the parking lot to watch the 4th of July fireworks. It was the perfect location! If the City of Coos Bay continues the tradition next year, we will be back again. The museum itself is also fascinating. And my grandsons and I love the gift shop. All in all, I highly recommend this as a must-see when visiting the Coos Bay Area.
