Dr Willis and staff are very very good. I would highly recommend them.

It had been 8 years since I last saw a dentist. Right out the gate when I walked into Dr. Willis’s office I was nervous as it had been awhile and trying a new dentist was unfamiliar territory.
The assistant took all the images of my teeth and told me that the dentist would be in soon.
Dr. Willis came in and said hello and we exchanged a little small talk on the weather and then went right into a conversation about my current medication. He proceeded to tell me that I really should get off my blood pressure med. I then responded with “why
? Is it bad? ” And he said “well, your weight, you are really gonna want to do something about it”. This man had known me for 2 minutes……they didn’t take my weight upon my arrival there. He was making a judgement simply based off how I look. I then tell him “are you paid to state the obvious to me or are you paid to tell me what is wrong with my teeth? ”. He was quick to say after this “yah I’m just trying to give you a push in the right direction “ and I said to him “you don’t know me, you have no idea what I do in a day. You are a dentist, not my primary doctor who is familiar with me and all my conditions”. Right after this he half smiled and said “well I hope we can still be friends, I didn’t mean to piss you off” and I said “oh no, you absolutely did piss me off”. He then got an assistant to finish the visit by going over what work needed to be done. My cleaning was scheduled 20 minutes after the X-ray appointment. I did stay for the cleaning. If you were to ask me now if I would have gone through with the cleaning I would tell you a hard no. But again, I was nervous, it all was unfamiliar and to be honest I was still in shock.
Once the cleaning was done she took me to the front desk to schedule my next cleaning and the crown I was needing. I finally said “you know, I’m sorry I can’t schedule these, your dentist was very rude and I really cannot come back here”. The girls up front were very quiet and did say for me to have a good day as I was walking out.

I say all of this to say that if you hover on the heavier side do yourself right and find a different dentist. Dr. Willis was not only rude, he was incredibly unprofessional.
I hate to use the word “discriminatory” because that word is thrown around for a number of invalid reasons. But truly, this man judged me after a few minutes of conversation with me. He took no time in those minutes to get any closer to understanding me as a dental patient, his mind was already made up purely based on how I looked.

I hope you all are fortunate enough to find a dentist who is there to listen to and address your dental needs in a professional and caring manner. I could only have wished that was my experience today.
