3I have driven by here countless times on the way to the VA, but today I was early so I made the effort to stop. I am so glad I did. It's wonderful and even with all the traffic it was peaceful.
Beautiful lilacs that were almost in full bloom. Loved that part of it - I've never seen such a concentration of purple and the smell was amazing. Drawbacks: no good parking and it was just a corner of a much larger park. I expected the whole thing to be woodsy and filled with blooms, but alas, it was just a small, magical corner. Moderate your expectations a bit.
No paths to walk through, just a grassy field with a few park benches scattered throughout. It is impressive how close you are to the street and how quickly you forget that. Great little hideaway by OHSU. The lilacs smell lovely.
