Extra Space Storage

Extra Space Storage raised my monthly rate from $140 to $200 (!) without ever notifying me. I escalated my issue with the on-site coordinator as well as the online customer service department, and didn’t receive a callback until 18 days later.
My hope was to receive a refund of the “surprise” $70 along with an apology, and Extra Space Storage didn’t provide either one.
The one good aspect of this entire disheartening and incompetent incident is that I found out several storage competitors offer better storage units for a lower rate. I’ve switched to StorQwest!

I would have given zero stars if I based my review on the experience of reserving. The man who answered our questions really sounded like he had no interest in doing his job. We called back once and spoke to him, he said he was holding the unit for us and confirmed with a YES when I double checked the address. We were pressed for time as the closing time was now about 30 min away. We arrive only to be told by the nice young manager that we aren’t in the system and they don’t even have units available, but after doing some digging, he found that our reservation was tied to a different location 20min away. Obviously we would not make it to office hours. Tyler was AWESOME. He figured a way to get us all squared away with a rental agreement and access code to get into the unit at the other location, from his store. He made the day after the other guy ruined it.

After spending 2 days trying to reach another storage company, I gave up and called Extra Space. Within 5 minutes, I was booked and paid for, at a very reasonable rate, with a larger unit than what I even needed.
When I arrived a few hours later to store some items, I wasn't sure how to use the code to get in. Even though the manager was on her lunch break, she came outside to explain how the system worked.
Super convenient to be able to drive right up to the storage spot to load and unload.

Did online rental and said it didn't work and tired again said didn't work. Called the next day just to try and get a hold of a person but unfortunately it was memorial day, turns out those rentals went through so the following day I called back and got it resolved and payment went back. No need for 2 units! Thank you guys! For the quick and friendly help

This place is is great. Ive rented a unit for about a year and never had a problem. It was especially amazing how much help they were when i was checking/ moving out the unit. I higly recommend this location.

Michelle was great, she showed me what was available in the size of units I was interested in and once I decided she took care of me! The process was fast and easy! I was very happy with the whole process!

Extra Space found us a spot in a constrained storage market in Portland, OR area. We had no idea poeple were on wait lists for months at many places. And when we cancelled our unit, the customer service team did a great job. It all went very smoothly.

My experience, with entering a business agreement with Extra Space Storage, was revealed as high level of professionalism and kindness.
Michelle Baughman, Site Mgr, was one of the highest customer service representations, professionalism and service individuals you could ever receive; especially on a corporate scale.
The facility was exceptional in cleanliness and security.
Ms. Baughman was very efficient and expedient in assisting me at a very difficult time, long distant move, with major time and financial constraints. Time was of the essence.
Her kindness, patience and understanding when navigating a substantial contract, Time constraints; with my great difficulties to actually read through, as I am partially blind, and lost my glasses in move. She assisted me in getting signed in and ready move in, before closing time.
Again, I would recommend Extra Space Storage, especially with a manager like Ms. Michelle Baughman.

I had a positive experience storing my stuff here. The manager Michelle is very helpful and patient. She went out of her way to communicate well and help me after taking over from the previous manager, which I genuinely appreciated. The facility feels safe and secure, I felt comfortable storing my items here.

We rented 2 different sizes of units. The space was easily accessible as far as getting to the unit itself; the hours of operation were nice, as well. The area was kept clean and felt safe. We would use again.

Jeff helped me find the perfect storage unit for all my storage needs. I called to inquire on the Extra Space offers and I ended up having access to a unit by the end of our interaction. Safe and secure.

Jeff did a great job in following up with me after my online reservation was made. He made the entire process of renting a storage space very easy and streamlined. He is very professional and easy to work with.

I was running extremely late to board my ship for six months, they understood the the fast service I needed and with out hesitation got me what I needed and I made it to work on time. The area is nice and secure I feel good about leaving me car there for 6 months knowing all will be taken care of while I'm gone

I am renting two different units: 10’x15’ and 5’x8’.
I set up the first account online and was able to get into my storage the next morning, and the second one I set up in person and it took less than five minutes. The staff was really friendly and I definitely felt like the bigger storage room was more worth the cost.

I downloaded the app and can open the front gate like a garage opener from my app. No complaints here.

Loved that we could do nearly everything online or a quick phone call.

We got a good size storage unit when we had to move out, for a couple weeks before our new place was going to be ready.

My husband also broke our lock one trip there and Extra Space Storage staff were happy to give us a replacement really fast. Thank you so much! The grounds are always really clean and it's nice knowing everything is taken care of while we are away.

My family and I have been using this storage for over 10 years! My favorite part is that it’s all one level, so you don’t have to worry about hauling it to and from an elevator. Everything is simple and clear cut, and the staff is always informative, helpful, and friendly. Just recently used them again. Danea was extremely friendly and answered all my questions! We chatted about family for a bit and it was nice to talk to a human and not an employee. Always will recommend this place!
