Favell Museum reviews
17The artifacts are the best of those collected from First Americans' settlements. Combined with some of the finest paintings I've ever seen they give an authentic flavor of life for these native tribes and the horrors they suffered by the white man's gun. The paintings are so detailed and realistic that each one is mesmerizing. Also lots of extraordinary sculpture and other collections, as well as videos of The Modoc War, pottery, basket weaving, and a first class gift shop at the front. The place is SO worth a visit.
Wow, this museum is great. Tons of one of a kind artifacts. The staff is great and friendly. It's a little spendy but well worth it. If you can only go to one museum go to this one.
More arrowheads than you knew existed including a large Clovis Point! Also, ancient excavated Native artifacts including 14,000 y.o. Sandals. A little jewel of a musuem covering Northwest and some Southwest culture. Don't miss it.
Very large collection. It seems to give the impression of someone who loved the idea of owning and preserving native culture, but has no sensitivity towards native struggle.
Spent hours with a friend oohing & awhing the fabulous craftmanship of the past & present & still hav'nt made it to the upper level, guess we'll be going back.
WOW!
Even after reading the great reviews here, I was still blown away. There must have been at least a thousand different arrowheads. And so much more to see.
Native American artifacts from Alaska to Peru.
US western artifacts.
And art (both old & new) of the above.
Expect to take about 2 hours to see everything.
Would love it if they offered guided tours. I had so many questions.
I will go again if I'm in the area.
Lots and lots of prehistoric projectile points, especially from Lake County, OR. Local art, too.
Do enjoyable, relaxing- arrowheads like I've never seen even in a museum & these are a personal collection. Other artifacts from local sites- mortar & pestles that are jaw dropping in size & condition. Edward Curtis prints, books upstairs in the library captured my attention long after viewing artworks in main gallery. I ll return to view the glass cases & other works I had to pass up this time.
Loved this place beautiful artifacts. Friendly staff. A must see if in town. I would go again. Worth the vist.
An amazing collection of arrowheads and other Indian artifacts. Some of the exhibit descriptions were a bit hard for me to read. Definitely worth an hour or two if you are into Native American artifacts. The Western Art was interesting as well.
Beautiful setting for a wedding! I'm positive the bride & groom wedding pictures were stunning. Perfect for a smaller group size. It was a great day for nuptials outside that evening.
The museum is way bigger than I expected. I encourage everyone to go there. My kids loved it too!
Very nice place to know more about Indian culture and their past, as well as Indian art gallery. Zach who works there is a nice guy who is willing to answer your question. Recommend highly to those ppl who are interested in history.
This is a nice museum. It is an idiosyncratic museum. The museum has three distinct sections, one on indigenous artifacts and local history, mainly pioneer; one of paintings and bronzes, more or a less a gallery space; and the vault.
In the first space there are many arrowheads but they are presented entirely out of their original context. They have other indigenous artifacts which are a highlight of the museum. The Modoc Indian War of 1873 is presented through framed newspaper articles from the time and little more. The pioneer history exhibits are nice but confined.
In the gallery space there are numerous paintings that are nice.
The vault space has the feel of a shrine, a place for private enjoyment of private possessions. There is actually a bank vault door and spotlights illuminating the numerous curiosities.
It was, however, worth the $8.00 admission price.
The Favell Museum is a hidden gem in Klamath Falls. It is a must visit for anyone interested in Native American and Western history and art.
Fantastic western and native american colle tions and art. Beautifully appointed museum. A must see. Can't see everything in a visit. I'm going back soon.
