Fish House Inn & RV Park reviews
12Great location for seeing the John Day fossil beds. Very nice family run facility. Showers are fantastic. Cute animals visit you if you want them to.
This is a great place to stay and explore John Day. The place is spotless and green grass was a pleasure to camp on
Great location for viewing Fossil Beds National Monument.
Nice roomy sites, very clean, and friendly staff.
The only negative (& only a minor one at that if you plan around it), and that is the unusually late check-in time.
This is a very quaint little rv park. There are less than ten full hook up sites and similar that are just electric hookups. The camp host/owners were very nice and accomodating. I had the unfortunate experience to go when it was the hottest time of the year but it doesn't put a damper on this place. Wonderfully situated with fruit trees abundant around the camp. A ping pong table that all the kids of camp were playing. A nice little play yard for the kids. The camp was very pet friendly and they have nice laundry facilities and very clean showers. If I'm ever in the area again I would definitely stay here.
Fish House Inn and RV Park was excellent!
We stopped for a night and stayed in the Salmon Suite. It was lovely and extremely comfortable! So nice to relax there after about 400 miles on the motorcycles in 100° heat!
We will certainly stay there again should we find ourselves passing back through Dayville again!
We just got back from a 2 week road trip that took us through 10 campsites. While we camped in several very nice RV parks, The Fish House Inn was easily the nicest spot we camped. The grounds are lovely, very shaded, lush & green and full of fruit trees. We were there on the 4th of July and the party was centered at the Fish House, which is clearly a huge part of the Dayville community. It was a wonderful spot to camp and if we had the time we would have stayed longer. Super easy access to the John Day Fossil Beds and we also went to the Painted Hills Unit, which must not be overlooked! Truly stunning! Thanks for welcoming us into your family during your July 4th festivities, Fish House! We will definitely camp here again.
The hosts are wonderful, personable, and accommodating. The grounds are gorgeous with lots of gardens and fruit trees, and the rooms are clean and cozy. Lots of play structures for little ones. You’re close to all the tourist spots that John Day has to offer without being right in town and surrounded by crowds. There is a cafe next store and a gas station nearby (the only one for about 20 miles in either direction). We plan to come back again!
Fantastic RV campground. Clean and well maintained. Do yourself a favor and plan a visit. Close to a grocery store and coffee shop.
We spend the night with our RV here. Great spots, plenty of space (with grass and trees). Very spacious showers (towels provided) and quick laundry.
Would definitely recommend.
Fantastic base camp to explore the area. Quiet, clean and well kept. Owners are very kind and helpful. Highly recommend!
The Fish House is a true treasure in Eastern Oregon. We first stayed here in 1994, and the cabins were clean and cozy. This last week, we visited again, but this time with our travel trailer, so this review is about the RV facility.
Here is a handful of RV lots that are back-in, well graded gravel pads. Full hook-ups and service panels are very well located. If you've ever camped at locations where the sewer is over 2 hoses away and uphill, you know what poor layout means. However, that is not the case here, so well done, Fish House! And if wifi is important, their download speeds were good (35 -45 Mbps).
Our 3 night stay was quiet and pleasant. Surrounding the gravel parking pads, there is a lot of grass, trees and picnic benches. We even had a small chicken coop next to our space, so the sounds were very soothing. All in all, a wonderful place! I highly recommend it, if you're in the area. Lots of great day trips nearby, if you like paleontology and geology. Also, the Dayville Cafe nearby has the best pies!
