So fun here! My favorite place for a night out in Portland! Fun music and amazing cocktails!

My wife and I had a room at the Sentinel hotel and stopped by Fortune at 7 pm for a quick drink before it got busy. Place was empty. The “bouncer, ” who slurred his words (high/hammered?) wore a cap and T-shirt, and had a small backpack by him on the ground that he was drinking something out of. As we went to enter (no line) he didn’t greet us or introduce himself as security, but jumped in front of me and asked for ID. We literally thought he was a houseless man posing as a bouncer. He was rude and unprofessional. Also asked for ID though we are in our 60s and demanded to pat both of us down. Later! We walked 2 blocks to the Crystal Ballroom and had a nice evening instead.

Expect a 45 minute wait if you arrive past 11pm. Good atmosphere, excellent bartenders and drinks. Last night (4/15) the music was terrible, they need to hire a DJ under the age of 45. The least relatable pop hits of the 80s, and cliche 00’s were circulating all night. Danced all night but this dude was a buzzkill.

Went in for Plant-based Papi but they said that is no longer there but that the new chef here at Fortune is doing all vegan eats too. We tried the crispy chicken sandwich (delicious) and the shwarma bowl. The bowl was amazing! Would come back just for that, so good!

Excellence in efficiency, style, taste and customer appreciation. Definitely will frequent this local gem.

Pretty lit bar I would definitely recommend people to check it out plus they have luxurious rooms to stay in

The first bar I visited in Portland. Very 0ricey but the bartender was great. I'm still not sure what I got but it was amazing. I think I choose the "dealers choice" option.fabulous

Music is good and they play the hot jams everyone loves to dance to. If you go before 10 (maybe 11) then it's free. Otherwise they charge u later. Dance floor is super small and is hard to get in and out of on weekend nights. Staff is friendly and professional. However, the two bartenders made me the same drink, but the quality was very different in each and didn't taste the same. One used ice cubes and the other used a fancy ice cub rectangle. This allowed for a different amount of liquid being used in each cocktail. The first girl to make it made it perfectly (with the rectangle long cube) and used a little bit more soda. Whereas the guy who used the normal ice cubes used too many, not leaving enough room for the soda amount needed in the recipe. (Watermelon Paloma). At $14 for this cocktail I would want synchronicity in each drink. The drinks here are pretty pricey imo. Also, the same guy who messed up my Paloma also didn't properly pour my double shot. He poured one single right next to my double, and they were almost the same level in the glass, meaning I was under poured on my double shot. I hate to call people out, but I feel better bartender training is needed for this bartender in particular; I don't know his name, but he had long dark hair in a low pony tail, and wore a beanie and circular eye glasses. I plan on coming back as they have good music and great lighting for dancing, as well as a big security staff that seems very attentive and professional. I feel safe here due to bag checks on women and pat downs on men.

The live Jazz performance was great. My Brother Pianist plays there every week

This place is not safe for women, queer and BIPOC folks. My friend and I had a traumatic experience with the bouncers on staff a year ago that I still think about to this day. We were targeted, lied to, verbally harassed, and physically assaulted without reason. Long story short, their bouncers are improperly trained and dangerous to patrons. I strongly advise anyone who is considering visiting to go elsewhere.

The night was a little young for me so I decided to enjoy a couple of drinks and listen to some music before heading back to my hotel room. The DJ played some really good music and if my friends were with me, we would have taken over that dance floor. The staff here were all friendly! (P.s, I came back here again for a late night dinner because the Ramen house that I wanted to go to was closed for the night lol)

Loved visiting for the first time. Good ambiance, good food, and great drinks. Recommend the Oaxacan Garden. Don't sleep on Mezcal, folks, it's good! Had a burger, fries, and salad that were all very satisfying and tasty. Would pass on getting the Mozz Stix again. The fry on them was perfect, the sauce was quite good, but the inside didn't seem cheesy, but more creamy? I'm sure someone reading this might love it but it wasn't my thing. Bartenders and barback were really nice.

The food has improved drastically since Plant Based Papi left. Worth giving another try if you weren't satisfied in the past.

1st stop after a long flight to portland. Bartender made a slapping old fashioned, solid burger and he didn't even laugh at our awkward English ways. Definitely recommend

Good food is the only reason I'm giving any stars. Bar tenders are disappointing. Been here a few times. 1/18/23 7pm worst long Island I have ever had, and I have had some bad ones. Gentlemen was rude to me and the girl that was serving me that asked him how to make it. She was polite and nice he was not to either of us besides denying my request to make it a certain way.

Not sure why this spot only has 3.9 stars. I was very happy with my meal and drink and the space was beautiful. I definitely plan to go back.

Nice place to grab a beer and food! Very spacious with a romantic feel. Staff was super friendly, prompt service and they have vegan food. Try the nachos, you get a whole tray of them.

Absolutely Terrible Experience! The bouncers here are predators. You wait in line forever and have to listen to them make extremely inappropriate comments about the female customers going in. We were so disgusted that we just left, even after waiting for 30 minutes to move up the line. Def.a warning about the type of place fortune is.

Unempathetic staff/ "bouncers". Good luck if there's a line to get in and you need to use the restroom. While I was waiting in a line that formed outside of the door I was holding my bladder. Over 20 minutes had passed. I couldn't wait any longer so I went inside and looked for the bathroom. As soon as I walked in I was bombarded by a man who proceeded to yell in my face telling me that I was not welcome to use the restroom and that I had "skipped the line" his words, not mine. The velocity of his voice directly in my face scared me enough to step back outside to my "friend" group. I proceeded to call and uber and head back home. Being a bit trauma informed and handling people with care is completely free yet this bar does not have the skill to do so.

We came here after a concert at 11pm. We ordered a whiskey and a mojito at the bar and some fries and chips and queso. It was so good and the servers were amazing. My mojito was probably one of the best I've ever had, but honestly the DJ tonight is so good I don't want to leave.
