Frank Wine Bar reviews
20 I finally made it to Frank's. I should have gone much sooner. Just about the friendliest folks around.
Vegetarian pasta dish was fantastic, Pasta Valgañon. Incredibly well put together dish.
I will be back many more times!
I can't say enough good things about this charming South Portland wine bar. Owners Ben and Sharon and their staff take great pride in providing the best customer service experience. The space is beautifully decorated and is an ideal location for date night or meeting up with friends. The wine selection is impeccable and staff are happy to make recommendations if you are looking for something special or just want to try something new. The menu offers small bites and full entrees. The cheese board is phenomenal. The Thursday night tastings are fun and educational. I also recommend checking out live music that is currently offered every Friday night.
Such a cute place, great vibes and even better food and wine! We got the wine flight, the charcuterie board and the roasted tomato bruschetta and all were stellar! The owner/manager Sharon even came and introduced herself and was so sweet taking the time to learn our names and welcome us back. We will definitely be returning!
This is a place where wine experts and novices can commingle with ease. Staff are welcoming, the ambiance is just right, and the food is tasty. After you've tried a couple of glasses, snap up some bottles of your favorites on the way out, knowing that any questions you have will be answered by attentive folks who help to guide and not bully you. I loved being here and look forward to coming in to soak up the vibes again soon.
The best spot on south waterfront! The food is consistently delicious, and the service is always incredible. The atmosphere is relaxing and cozy, perfect for a date night or quiet dinner with friends. The wine and food offerings are often updated, so I love going there to try the new specials. The outdoor seating is very dog-friendly and intimate. Highly recommend!
Frank Wine Bar is without a doubt the best neighborhood spot in Portland. From the delicious food, the incredibly friendly and articulate staff, to the wine that can’t be rivaled, this is the place to go. Ben and Sharon are dedicated to creating a welcoming space for the neighborhood and all visitors to Portland. They are wonderful. This place has become a home to me and I’m so glad they exist!
Love this place! Started going here about a year ago. Great wine selection and even better people. Now we're here at least once a week. I love they have a lot of European wines from small producers and local, small distributors. Check them out if you love wine!
Such a fantastic wine bar! I’m so happy I found it. A few of my past favorite wine bars have closed and I was worried I wouldn’t find another I love. I always discover new wines to enjoy here and recommendations are always top notch. Owners are super friendly and service is always great! Definitely worth checking out!
Actually it is my first time to write negative review. I’m extremely passion person but today’s situation made me feel really bad! I live in neighborhood and was here couple times which were fine. Today I came with my laptop with hope to have a nice dinner (pasta), wine and I had to do some work on my laptop. First of all inside was empty, only one couple at high tap and one women with dog and glass of wine at 6-8 party table! I asked to sit down at the corner if it’s possible because I had to do my work but waitress said that it’s only for more people not for one. It’s okay but this women were sitting in a middle with only wine glass and dog (at 6-8 party table) and talking to staff. Ok, I set at window and asked where is the outlet so I can charge my laptop. Waitress told that sorry we don’t have any outlets and after told me that she can put it to charge at her station. I was happy and agreed. Some other lady (I think owners sister) told me that I can come there to check what’s wrong because charger doesn’t work. I came and while I was fixing it lady told me that she may spill beer on my laptop. I was like “excuse me? ”. She said that again “I may spill beer on your laptop and I will not be responsible for that”. Wow! I felt like somebody hit me in the face! Really? So rude and mean! I just took it back and left this place! I will never go there again. So disrespectful. And if I’m coming only by myself it doesn’t mean that you guys have to treat me like that. Unbelievable bad experience!
Great vibe! We were seated promptly and got a bowl of the popcorn as the free starter. They were out of clam chowder but they had a great menu. I wish there were dessert options but maybe it's better for me that they don't. At first we had to flag someone down if we wanted water, but then they filled up our glasses before we even noticed they were getting low. Highly recommend the wine!
Excellent small wine and tapas bar nestled in the growing South Waterfront neighborhood. Perfect date night destination.
The owners were carrying there animals around while serving food? Who does that? Lastly can I get a glass of water when I sit? Who doesn’t offer water?
Hands down our favorite wine spot. Service, atmosphere and selection was 5 star. It is a perfect place to enjoy a night out.
I’m disappointed to say that I do not recommend this place any longer. It’s really gone downhill since it got new owners. They left our empty dirty plates sitting at our table for what seemed like an hour, while staff sat around drinking wine and playing with their dog. Is it legal for staff to drink? Or have their pets inside? They didn’t take our empty wine glasses, or offer us another glass… and it was not busy in there. Also the “salad” I got was basically a pile of meat, which is not what I expected. It’s pretty rare for me to write a negative review, but this place just isn’t worth the visit. If there’s one positive, the wine was good. But I would have liked to have been offered another glass. Oh well. Hope they get it together.
My sisters and I enjoyed a fabulous experience at Frank Wine Bar. The owners were both extremely friendly and helpful, providing excellent service throughout our visit. It was wonderful to see them stopping to engage with the customers and not just rushing in/out.
One of the owners worked with my sister to choose a wine based on her interests. It needed to be chilled, which they kindly offered to do. In the meantime, he brought us a sample of another wine. They were both wonderful!
The food was all amazing as well! We had the mouth watering French onion grilled cheese, the Polenta with meat sauce and the Spring Pasta. We loved all of the items ordered. I wish I had taken a photo, but the Spring Pasta was so colorful and fresh.
Lastly, the patio tables are set back from the street and in the shade, so it was a lovely escape from the afternoon heat. We will definitely be back!
Fantastic community space. The outdoor seating on a sunny day is perfect, and feels like a perfect place for meeting with old friends. The food and wine are great and unpretentious. Very reasonable prices. The proprietor is as kind as can be, with lots of good ideas even for just a bottle to pair with the pizza from across the street! We will come back many times.
I've always loved it here, for the past 4 years we've lived in the area. Owners changed and we were nervous about it. But they have exceeded our expectations. Such a wonderful place to grab a bottle of wine and a bite to eat. They're all knowledgeable about the wine and so friendly. Highly recommended.
The best service, wine, and food. Ambiance is fantastic. Extra emphasis on the service. (And wine, and food.) Try the grilled cheese!:) The owners are wonderful and truly care about their customers. Overall a great experience, and I plan to be back soon.
Great little place for wine and boards. Great selections of wine and reasonable price! And the decor is so chic.
Wine and food was delicious. Prices were reasonable. Staff was very friendly, helpful, and accomodating. Can't wait to go back!
