Gentle Dental Sherwood

See the post from H. Smith- the exact same thing happened to me. No cavities, went in for a normal cleaning but Dr. Nedelcu said because I had recession on my gums (3's and 4's) that he recommended (remember that word) I do visits every 4 months for a deep clean. I told him I would need to check my insurance first.

The hygienist then came in with a form for me to sign that they would now be billing insurance for the deep clean + $50 to me out of pocket. I declined and said didn't come for a deep clean, so Dr. Nedelcu came back and said that because of my gum recession he recommended (yes, he used that word again) that I do the deep clean. I again said I just wanted the regular cleaning to which he responded "you can't". I asked for clarification, mainly that if I didn't go with the upgraded cleaning I couldn't get any cleaning today? His response was "yes, it would screw up all the insurance now". Folks, that's not a recommendation, that's an ultimatum.

But it gets better. Seeing as I had already been there for 45 minutes I decided to just do the deep clean and then never go back. The deep clean consisted of the hygienist (very nice by the way) cleaning my teeth with a normal scraper. Took about 15 minutes. I asked her what was the difference between this deep clean I just got and a regular cleaning, and the answer basically boiled down to "well you have more exposed parts of your teeth so there's more to clean". I've gotten more thorough cleanings from my previous dentist (had to leave b/c we moved) and they were never these "recommended" deep cleans.

Pretty sad. Gentle Dental could have had a customer for multiple times a year. Instead they got a one and done, $50 extra bucks (plus whatever they billed insurance) and a staunch advocate against that company to anyone bringing up anything dental related.

I transferred my dental needs to GD Sherwood less than 2 years ago and Dr Nedelcu & Mo have been gentle. I’ve only been helped by two other DAs and they were nice as well.

Dr N is kind & seem knowledgeable and like the other Rater/poster on here says, the Dr doesn’t recommend more work to do just because. I noticed this change compared to previous local dental office. My hubs and I have noticed we always seem to need work done there and we always get X-rays done even if it was just 6 mos prior. I supposed our previous insurance was really good and covered a lot of preventative/diagnostics and they saw the opportunity and not just if there was a need for it. On the other hand this GD office, Dr Nedelcu’s approach is no nonsense and practical and not gouging.
I recently made a short appt as had some concerns with my tooth and I felt Dr examined thoroughly & asked questions to get to the root issue and address my concern. I hope the solution provided and post dental appt tips helps resolve my dental concerns.

Finally a Dentist I can trust. Keep up the good work and thank you for an honest, caring, knowledgeable and professional experience.

I am giving 5 stars to Dr experience, 4 stars to overall experience with previous appts. 2.5 to Hygienist that is super speedy with my appointments with her. Manager rating is a 1, very unkind to front office staff. Been in twice and saw her in near tears at how she was treated. Micromanaging-nightmare manager fit this middle aged blonde manager to a tee.

Tried to upsell me on services I didn’t need, then refused to do a cleaning unless I accepted a deep clean that would cost extra (despite my being on schedule and having no cavities). I walked out and have reported them to my insurance in case they try to bill. Added a star because the office staff and and technicians were very friendly.

This place is amazing! Elizabeth is such a thorough and gentle hygienist and the doctor was knowledgeable and focused. Highly recommend!

Dr and team are always great. I am not a fan of the dentist and he always ensures I am comfortable and talks me through everything he is doing. Our family is very glad to have this Gentle Dental team!

This is a great dental office. They were able to help me with extreme pain in a few days. The staff are kind, and professional. Dr. Nedelcu did great work. Thank you all. It was a great experience.

I’ve been coming here for 4 years and have always had good service. Always friendly staff. 2 years ago they removed a lead cavity and replaced it with new material which solved a lot of my sensitivity issue. Good work.

Everyone is always so friendly and kind! I used to hate going to the dentist, but I don't ever mind coming here:) Not to mention, always great dental care as well! My dental health has improved significanly since I changed my dentist to Gental Dental Sherwood.
