As a lonely woman in a tech career (average 13% women) and often the only woman in a workgroup or meeting, I wanted to find an organization whose mission included promoting STEAM careers to girls at a young age before they opted out. Tech offers interesting problems to solve, meaningful work and lucrative salaries and NEEDS THE DIVERSITY of underrepresented communities including women, people of color, LGBTQIA+ at the table of design as we are also beneficiaries/users of tech and deserve solutions designed for us, by us! Girls Inc PNW caught my eye in their mission to inspire all girls/youth, ages 6-18, to be strong, smart and bold through their research-proven programming to fully develop a girl (Strong=healthy habits/body, Smart=mind/education, Bold=spirit/advocacy) -AND- offers STEAM focused programming at a young age up through their high-school level Eureka! Program which methodically gives girls exposure to various STEAM careers and the tools and support to apply to post-secondary education. I've met alumna of Girls Inc PNW and they are impressively confident as young adults and ready to take on the world! I want to hire them all. I'm a proud supporter of Girls Inc PNW and currently serve as President of the Board. Join our mission!

As a Qorvo employee, our group loved hosting the Eureka girls for a STEM workshop, including a mock simulation of our factory. It was also fun to show them all the many places where Qorvo wireless chips can be found, from the Mars Rover and Defense fighter jets, to smartphones and connected cars. We hope we inspired the girls about how rewarding it can be to consider a STEM career. Once the pandemic situation improves, we can’t wait to host them again.

I have been honored to be a volunteer and donor with this organization since 2014. Girls Inc. PNW has done so much necessary work in the Portland community and I‘m excited to see their impact on Seattle and Southwest Washington!

Girls Inc PNW is an important non-profit that truly works for the betterment of girls in all avenues of life. My friend got me involved several years ago and it’s been a pleasure to see how the organization has continually worked to live up to their mission statement. It has been a pleasure to be able to donate to such worthy cause.

Be careful of the Eureka! Program at Girls Inc. PNW. They have a hidden agenda experienced first hand by my daughter.

Under Girls Inc, an organization in Portland OR exists. It’s the Eureka program. It was described as a STEM program for girls, however it has yet to exhibit STEM attributes. It’s disappointing when an organization pushes empowerment of the girl but dioesn’t provide real learning opportunities/experiences for her to be empowered.
