Glenn Otto Community Park reviews
15Make sure to bring appropriate footwear and perhaps water shoes, the shoreline is riddled with painful to walk barefoot on rocks. Good swimming spot, no hiking trails. Food and beer available, as well as a lifeguard station.
Fun place to bring the kids, expect some medium to large crowds in the Spring and Summer. There are a few food choices as well, the Hawaiian place is my favorite, a little pricey but well worth it! The second place is a frys and soft serve Ice Cream kind of place, also very good. There's a cool playground for younger kids and just a delightful place to walk around. They also have several large outdoor event rental that can hold up to 50-75 people. Outdoor BBQ pits as well. Close beech access with a lifeguard on duty all Summer and an Ambulance on site. The river is ok in Summer and late fall but otherwise stay away. The currents can be very strong. Every year people die so don't risk your life!
Parking lot - empty on weekdays; packed on weekends. Wear water shoes as the creek is rocky on the bottom. Probably best for elementary kids - there is a little current here! Lots of inter tubes and floaters in the water.
Don't allow pets. Why do you discriminate? If you worry about water quality don't allow kids or anyone for that matter.
My friends and I blew up our floaties and cruised down the river from Dabney to Glenn Otto. Just park one car at the bottom, and drive the other to the top. We've gone several times this summer. Planning to again and again and.
Clean, pretty, water access. The only hard part is parking. Glad I got there early in the day
One of the best swimming hole in the metro area. With that said, this area is crowded on hot days, especially weekends! The parking lot is very small and shared with the extremely popular Sugar Pine Drive In. The water is usually pretty cold, and very swift currents make this best for adults or older children. There are lifeguards and local police on duty. They also have a life jacket loner program.
Tucked off of main road hidden behind business. Shares parking with business so sometimes need to park across bridge and walk over. Lifeguards on duty during peak times that provide loaner life vests. Nice chill place.
Reasonably clean. Lifeguards and Deputy on duty in one location while we were there. Police officer monitoring trailhead. Sign posted no alcohol.
With the lifeguards earning their keep, it was a fun experience and a definate place to cool off on a hot day.
Beautiful place, but unfortunately not everyone cleans up after themselves Trash every where on the beach. So sad because it is a great little spot
Had a blast.until my bag was stolen. With everything important, like my driver's license, house and car keys, glasses, and of course credit and debit cards. I get taking the cards. But the other stuff? Couldn't leave that? I've been going to the Sandy River for 20 years, and it's the first time something like this ever happened. It was a horrible experience to recover from, and I'm not sure how often this happens here. But felt it was important to warn others. There are a lot of nice spots on the Sandy but it's not the best river in the state, and after this, may not be my first choice to visit.
Beautiful little park. Nice clean restrooms. Beach river access. Has a little cafe in parking lot too.
Its a good place to cool down. There are quite a few rocks so you might get scraped in the river like me. The path downwards is quite difficult, but someone managed to get a grill down, so it shouldn't be to difficult. They do have life guards there, which is surprising to me since every river I have been to has not had any.
A truly beautiful place.
There’s a peacefulness to the environment as it brings you back to nature.
The river stream has a magical calmness to its tides.
There’s free parking with wide space to park your car.
