Grant County RV Park reviews
8 Stayed at this fairground on October 15 16,2022 (Overnight stay)
We stumbled upon this gem of an RV park when we decided to break our journey from Bend, OR to Caldwell, ID into two parts. To put it simply, this picturesque haven left us wishing we could have extended our stay. This place was a colorful oasis visually stunning for an autumn visit. The website was user friendly and easy to book a site. We ended up picking site 3, a pull-through with full hook-ups. The website provided clear and easy to follow directions to get to the park. Upon arrival, setting up camp was an easy task. The site itself was spacious, level, and bordered by a vibrant array of trees that transformed the surroundings into a kaleidoscope of colors.
The park is quiet with only the gentle symphony of the river flowing in the background, really adding to the tranquil ambience that made us feel as though we were in our own colorful retreat.
The park is pet friendly and there is plenty of open space to play ball and have fun or just enjoy a scenic walk around the rivers trail. There are restroom and shower facilities, though we didn't use them. There seemed to be plenty of nearby options for eating and shopping.
I would recommend this park to anyone looking to stay in the John Day area. It is a great choice for the low price.
Tenting Camp Ground provided water (100 yards) and 3 well maintained porta-potties (60 yards) and a picnic table for $10/night.
About 6 blocks and you're downtown John Day. So easy walking distance.
Very nice place water, power and sewer not to mention fair WI-FI. Portapotties or $5 for the real thing.
Such a peaceful location to arrive in after a long drive south on the 395. The mature trees, babbling brook, and signing birds make it hard to leave. The town has some great antiques like OxBow. We will definitely make this our new spot.
We pulled in the park late and found an empty site for the night. The next morning we were able to play ball with the dogs on the beautiful lawn before heading out again for the rest of our adventure. Beautiful, smallish, quiet, well maintained park and grounds. We will definitely be back if in the area again.
Shower code provided via email did not work nor could I get the separate Internet for spot 14 to work. But it is still a very nice RV park for our needs. Park employee came by and gave me a new shower code. And said they might send someone in regards to WiFi booster.
A nice place to stay at while husband worked on truck. Full hook ups quite not a big camp ground but big enough!
This was a very unpleasant stay. I stayed at the Grant County RV Park for three weeks in January 2023. When i first arrived the bathrooms were very dirty, but I assumed they would be cleaned on Monday. They were not and in fact weren't cleaned until I finally complained after two weeks. The showers initially had no hot water and it wasnt noticed until again I complained about a week into my stay. They were never cleaned that I could tell. The park comes with wifi although it didn't effectively reach my spot. I had one bar. All in all i would recommend coming to John Day prepared to stay at one of the hotels in town or camp out. Maybe some boondocking, which there were spots for at the fairgrounds. It would have been a better value for the dollar.
