GrindWT is a lovely place that's served our neighborhood and region very well. I'm sad to see them shift (slightly) over to a larger space, but I'm happy they are expanding. The Alberta spot was incredibly inviting and so easy to find a spot in the back or pick up and head to the park.

Ono Chicken, Poke Nachos and their Mac salad is super good and look forward to visiting the space!

My daughter was visiting from LA and asked if I could take her to get some poke and chicken to bring back home with her and her friends. I can't hate her for it since I asked her to bring me chinese from my fav.place, too! Lol
We bought some some extra fried chicken & poke to share and knew what the hype was about. Yummmmmmy poke with loads of furikake to perfect the dish. The only thing missing was heat. Chicken was crispy and light but a bit on the sweet side.

This is close to the best Hawaiian food in Portland. Just has long waits and is a little pricey but it’s for good reason. The Hawaiian nachos are $27 but come with so much. I’ve eaten here many times but this time I just got the nachos delivered. Comes with full containers of ahi and pulled pork. Only negative was the pulled pork was the saltiest I’ve ever had.

I've only gotten take-out here, but rolling out with a pound of poke is always satisfying. Combos come with rice & macaroni, all entrees are good choices. Staff are friendly & accommodating as well. Looks family& asian owned. (:

After seeing this place on so many lists of great spots in Portland, I was super excited to try it.

Haven't been so disappointed by a meal in a long time. It may have been an "off" night for them because the other reviews are all stellar.

Katsu chicken was over breaded and tasted like dirty fry oil. Teriyaki beef was tough. Even the rice was mushy. Mac salad was flavorless.

My husband ordered a coke and they handed him a warm coke zero and they don't have ice. Super odd.

The portions are massive. $20 per entree but it would last 3 meals easily.

Pretty good meal. Generous portion. Got the combo: teriyaki beef, ono chicken, & Spam with rice and macaroni salad. Unfortunately, I found the teriyaki sauce was too sweet, and some of the beef was a bit tough. Ono chicken was tasty. Might try other items on the menu.

They charge you a dollar extra for a side of siracha, and they don’t de-vain the shrimp. Poopoo shrimp kinda overpriced too.

The best Hawaiian food in PDX. Everything I’ve had is great. Highly recommend poke and/or Ono chicken. Not a lot of seating inside but there is a patio out back. Canned soda is the biggest drink option available here.

Service is friendly. Unfortunately they ran out of Kalua Pork and Walnut shrimp.
Not a big dining area but folks eat quick and seating rotation flows consistently. Just didn’t dig the group behind us who took the last table while they were still waiting for their meals while we stood waiting with our meals in hand.
Anyway, on to the food. Opinions vary but It was disappointing. We were famished after shopping downtown so we drove out here for this specific restaurant. While waiting in line, we noticed the folks dining were all teens/ college age so that should have been an indication cuz clearly these folks don’t cook regularly.
We ordered the beef tips, garlic shrimp and chicken. Rice with both meals drowned in oil, Kalbi short ribs were all fatty, garlic shrimp drowned in oil with only pre crushed garlic (no flavor) on the shell which we peel off so the shrimp tastes like nothing but oil and the chicken was extremely dry to where we had to chew the pieces for a minute to break it down. $40 for two meals.
Mac salad was decent.
We have enjoyed genuine Aloha food on Oahu, Maui, Kauai and Big Island.
Wished we enjoyed the Aloha food here but Happy we tried this place out.
Thank You.

The portions are ginormous!

The Hawaiian Nachos were really good, packed with a ton of flavor and textures that were really unique.

Beyond that the establishment was clean and the staff were super friendly.

If you need the meats (or fish) this is _the_ place to go in NE Portland. Every day the menu has a large variety of Hawaiian and Filipino proteins coming fried, grilled, or marinated. Prices might seem high until you realize each dish is easily a substantial meal for two people.

Definitely primarily a "to go" kind of operation, as they only have a handful of tables in the small space and everything comes in a takeout container regardless.

I had a hankering for Hawaiian and this was hands down the best I have ever had. Unfortunately they were out of lau lau but the lovely lady who called suggested sweet chili chicken as a replacement and it was delicious. It was all delicious, and the portions huge. Besides chili chicken we got ono chicken, kalua pork, meat jun, ribs, and honey walnut shrimp. So good

This place is the definition of excellent value— the prices are incredible considering the MASSIVE portion sizes, and the food is delicious and savory. It’s a counter-serve spot and there’s limited seating inside; it was pretty crowded and busy on a Thursday during lunch. Most of the plates come with a side of double white rice and mac salad. The mac salad is super saucy and flavorful.

My family of four got the following items:

- Hawaiian Nachos: This was a literally overflowing plate that needed a rubber band to keep shut— it could easily feed 2+ people. It’s essentially a bed of nachos with tuna, pulled pork, and various sauces. The pulled pork was extremely tender and delicious, and the tuna was fresh and flavorful. The sauces elevated the flavor. The nachos were deeply fried and crispy with good taste but a little too oily.

- Kalbi Short Ribs: The ribs were super flavorful, with an incredibly savory, umami, buttery flavor. The only issue was it was too rubbery and hard to chew.

- Spicy Ahi Poke: Enjoyed this dish too- the tuna was fresh and combined with the sauces, it was packed with sweet and savory flavor.

- ‘Ono Chicken: My least favorite of the four, but still good. The katsu had a very crispy exterior, but the interior was a little dry.

Portions-wise, we definitely could’ve been fine with just sharing two of the four, but I had no regrets being stuffed to the max while trying all four.

Visiting our son in college we went here for the first time last night, a busy Saturday night with lots of customers and unexpected malfunction of the rice cooker did not matter for the wait was more than well worth it. Incredible portions, fabulous food, awesome dining experience. Highly recommend this place if you're a meat eater or foodie. As a 55-year-old woman, my portions lasted for more than two meals. I had the spicy poke, spicy pork bulgogi and ono chicken, frickin' delicious. My husband and son had the Loco Moco and that was out of this world, incredible gravy and quality of beef. I can't wait to come back to Portland again and visit here for a meal.
