Happy House Chinese restaurant and lounge reviews
20 Get the green beans, you won't regret it.
The service here has always been top notch.
Kind of a dive bar on one side and a small restaurant on the other.
I love this place.
Super lovely staff and a great bay where everybody knows your name
You can still experience old portland here.
These places are really hard to find anymore. I’m grateful that I can call this place home
Solid all around! I love that they have combination dinners that are more than enough for one rather than having to order for an entire family much like in other restaurants. Excellent excellent Crab Rangoons!
I'm 62 and have been in a thousand dive bars. I cannot believe how poorly the customers treat the bartenders. They'll put up, in use place cards on the video machines for hours without using it and walk up and scream at the bartenders for service when there's already three people in front of them and the management never stands up for their employees. The last time was the worst. I love the prices at this bar/ restaurant but I hate how shoddy the customers and the management treat the bartenders. I've never seen anything like it. It's inexcusable! I'm sad to say after years of being a loyal customer I don't think I'll go back for a couple years. The management should be ashamed of themselves.
So tasty, so affordable! I was really impressed by the large portions and how flavorful everything was. Sweet and sour sauce was packaged separately from the chicken so it wouldn’t get soggy. It also didn’t have chunks of veggies and pineapple in it, like how some places serve it. Definitely prefer it without! The bbq pork fried rice was fantastic too. This is absolutely my new go-to chinese restaurant.
Can’t comment on the interior or the service as I ordered take out.
Forgot to take pictures, but we ordered a ton of different dishes and everything was good.
A solid Chinese American restaurant!
I was a little leery about this place as the building needs repair, but I decided to give them a try. The staff was friendly, and the kitchen was busy. The prices are fair, the portions are big, and we both enjoyed the food in the comfort of our own home (we choose takeout). I wish them the best with this restaurant as we need good food in the area.
Food is amazing! Couldn't even wait to get home to dig in. Ckn fried rice, shrimp lo mein, sweet and sour ckn delicious!
The hostess of the restaurant was very rude and insulting. I had come in just to get a bite of food after working out in the sun and was promptly told upon entry to take off my shoes because I would dirty the restaurant. I felt insulted and on top of that when I was paying for my food the hostess demanded that I leave a tip. This is unacceptable.
I just moved to Portland and got lucky that the first Chinese restaurant I try is amazing! Good quality and good portions. I got the salty pepper chicken and wonton soup. Will definitely be back!
I can't speak on alot here, but I love the shrimp fried rice, thats all I ever order, but it comes full of shrimp and just the way "I" like it.just a little hole in the wall and the bar tender is super sweet she's been there for years!
The people was very friendly. Mixed races with everyone having happy energy in a small area. The barmaid was attentive, and stayed busy. The drinks was VERY strong. The drinks put me down. Plus they even let me park my tractor truck over night. The only reason I gave 4 stars instead of 5, was because the food made me sick to my stomach. Even after I woke up the next morning.
The food was decent. But the bartender was rude, had zero concept of personal space, and multiple times stated loudly that she thought we where taking too long. She became even further annoyed when I returned a drink because a hair was stuck to the ice. I also have doubts that she was sober while working her shift, I wouldn't have served her.
Without a doubt the worst chinese food I've had. The crab puffs were okay, but the entrees were terrible. The texture was gross the noodle and rice dishes were almost devoid of any of the meat and veggies that were supposed to be in them. I wouldn't return.
Standard cheap American Chinese food. Food is flavorless but comes in large portions. Come hungry and with low expectations
Hey for the price and the portions it’s legit a good deal. It’s BASIC American style Chinese food but, sometimes that’s what you want. Service is great. Food is ok, bland and lacking vegetables in most dishes. They have a seedy dive bar that’s also to my liking. I recommend the garlic chicken.
My drink was incredibly strong and when I complained a bar patron wanted to fight me! Feel very unsafe there and will never go back. A new person's nightmare.
Always consistent American style Chinese. So glad they are still open for takeout. Family owned and run, my favorite is the #3! Great value and good!
Happy House Chinese restaurant is a hole in the wall location. The staff were great. For was great. I really enjoyed my Shrimp Lo Mein.
LETS just say there soup sweet and was too unbalanced between sweet and sour.
The egg drop was pland.
The main courses. SZECHUAN BEEF was nice an flavorful.
THE shrimp Gung Pow was nice.
Egg rolls were mealy.
