Hawaiian Express reviews
20Great food and kind owners. I always get the tofu and rice everytime I go in. The food is always fresh.
I live the neighborhood, this place is my favorite take out! The braised beef ribs is so delicious, also other items on the menu. Highly recommended!
I really like going here to pick up food right before class. The tuna poke bowl is really tasty and they prepare it within 2 minutes.
Highly recommend!
The owners are very friendly and the food is warm, delicious, and fast. Great, hearty comfort food! I’ve been here on a weekly basis for 6 months and the food is consistently good.
The owners are super sweet and I have eaten here a few times, everything I have tried, kalua pork, grilled chicken, and the grilled port are all delicious! 10/10 recommend!
This place is so good in more ways than one. The food is great and so is the service. I love the size options and the meal specials. Definitely recommend
Friendly and fast service with a nice variety of menu options. Like having Avocado as a side dish.
The food is really, really, really good. I really enjoy it. In particular the Hawaiian chicken is really good and has a great flavor, in addition and maybe more importantly the service provided by the owners is really good (they are attentive and really helpful and nice). Also, the servings (portions are really good). Great food and not too expensive.
Great and consistent food with good sized portions at an affordable price! Besides the food, the customer service is always fantastic with the same couple who treat each customer in a kind and welcoming way!
This restaurant was located outside my office and I wanted to try it. I am mindful of the fact that I am born and raised in Hawai'i and there is far and few places I can go to get the same quality (or as close to) as home. I wanted to give it a try regardless!
I ordered the Loco Moco, which is an island standard. I figured this would be a good barometer for the remaining menu. The ingredients are simple, Hamburger patty, fries egg (s), rice, and gravy. Sides are usually Mac salad, green salad, or more Mac salad, lol.
The hamburger patty was not hot, not cold, but just ok. The gravy didn't have any flavor that I could taste, and the rice was dry. The egg was just ok, but the macaroni salad was good!
The service was good, prompt and friendly! They had a few other sweet items for sale on the counter from Japan that I love.
I love this place. Before and after Covid the consistency is always there. Theresa is so sweet, and is great conversation. The food is delicious, so much variety in both cost and types of food to choose from. Definitely, a place I go to for hearty, comfort food.
15 stars! My partner and I share a plate here like once or twice a week while on campus! Food is so good and filling and the staff are lovely!
I'm not trying to be dramatic when I say that both of the owners are single-handedly keeping Portland State students fed and happy. I live just a walk away and usually go once a week, and they never fail to hook it up with the good food while being incredibly nice and welcoming. They're a staple in the community and I mean that.
Mmmm yummy teriyaki sauce I tend to pick one food I like and stick with it and the teriyaki tofu over rice is cheap and filling and makes me happy: 3
Amazing food and friendly staff. I continue to come here time and time again because I love to support this local business. I recommend the chicken teriyaki plate, it’s my favorite thing on the menu!
Wow this place is delicious. A bonus is that they have all menu items clearly marked with what is gluten free and what is not. Love it! I’ve gone here more than twice now and each time the food and been delicious and fresh.
Best Poke in Portland! Good value for the price and a lot of different options. The fish is always great.
Amazing people with great food everytime! Location is also perfect for when you’re downtown
Excellent lunch deal, incredibly friendly staff! So glad to have this wonderful neighborhood spot!
I like the atmosphere here cuz it reminds me of back home in Hawaii and they don't mess around when it comes to putting lots of food on the plate. Definitely recommend here if you want a lot of food for a very reasonable price!
