Hawkins Park reviews
4What a sweet experience. The park is planting new trees, keeping it shade happy. Doggos played in Nehalem River, keeping them cool & happy. Very few visitors with it being a week day. We will definitely revisit!
Fun little swimming hole right in town. Kids playground right next to it makes for a good family stop plus big grass area for the dogs
VERNONIA PARKS!
Update: It’s not quiet on the weekends! It was full of big people and little people soaking up the sun and splashing in the Dewey Pool and adjacent natural waters.
The Chill Zone (delicious shaved ice) was on site serving refreshing treats this weekend. Be sure to check them out in the Vernonia parks!
There were a few local first responders on site watching over the water scene with all sorts of people splashing in and lounging around.
Note: * the Dewey Pool area is not pet friendly (posted). That’s fine because there are lots of kids running around having fun. Leave your pups at home in the AC or near a fan so they don’t get left behind in a hot car. OR go to the other end of the natural water area with your pets. It’s important to be respectful of rules that are meant to benefit the general public.
It was a good place to take a paddle board for a little while. Easy water access.
Very limited parking. Don’t forget to pay the $5 parking fee.
As always Pack it in = Pack it out
For a quieter experience, go during the week.
Quiet little Vernonia park with picnic tables. We enjoyed walking around and looking at the gorgeous trees.
Got to hang out with my love on Thanksgiving and his family. Was super great.
