Helen's Market reviews
9Really kind people work here. Its refreshing to hear music in any setting. Very very good variety of snacks and tobacco and soda. Very clean and cared for.
Some reviews and reviewer's are interesting and make you really think about where people are at in awareness.
One issue I notice is how many people do not seem to realize where this market is located, It is in old town/chinatown. An unfortunate area with very unique issues today. Please take a moment and try to imagine and realize this! Could you possibly imagine the amount of issues the employees and the owner might face? Imagine the amount of theft that could effect prices and profit? Imagine the amount of mental health issues and behavioral issues these people must face on any day? Realize the fact that they have been open during the whole pandemic while other business have closed. I have watched cashiers in this store deal with mental health issues from customers that would make an average person struggle and most of the time they do it with a professional attitude.
When we look at the issues of running a business in old town today. It is logical that polices and attitudes would be different from other businesses in other areas of town?
So i want to commend the employees of Helens Market for being kind, professional and trying to provide a good experience despite the tremendous issues they must face. To complain about not being able to swipe cards or other small things in light of the issues faced by residents and businesses owners of old town says more about the people making the reviews then anything else.
No Red Bull deals, no soda deals. Everything's excessively marked up. High cost store. Buyer beware
The prices seem to randomly go up every week on different items. I try to avoid this place unless I really need something
The owner of this store has implemented an extremely suspicious “policy” of bullying customers into handing him their card instead of using the contactless payment option which his hardware supports. DO NOT SHOP HERE, THIS IS INSECURE AND ILLEGAL.
I went in to get a USB-C cable, but they didn't have one. I was about to walk out and the lady at the counter pulled one out of her purse and gave it to me, she was super nice!
Great little neighborhood store. On the expensive side but it's downtown so what can you do?
Before you allow them to charge you a fee for a debit card. It is NOT OK OR VALID for them to do so. Especially 50 cent charge when the cap is only 21 cents. STOP PROFITING FROM THE POOR. LOOK IT UP AND ASK EVERYWHERE BEFORE DOING BUSINESS WITH SHADY OWNERS
Lived in Portland Oregon off and on for 12 years, this was the one of first place I went to in 2008. Still do. A little expensive, though their open when most stores are closed. Plus, the people who work there, are always nice.
