This place sucks, it in Portland, so it's dirty. But there are good people, and they will do what they can to help folks.

My 5 star review is for Tim at the Portland Airport location. He made a really terrible experience before I even got our car, 100x better. He clearly likes helping others and it showed. Agents on the phone do not give accurate info! Thanks again to Tim! Our trip to the Oregon Coast was awesome.

DON'T GO TO THIS LOCATION

I came to pick up my reservation 15 minutes early. They said they didn't have the car so I went to breakfast and came back 40 minutes later. I've now been sitting in a packed lobby for 40 minutes and they don't have cars for anyone, there's a 20 person deep "waiting list" that's not moving, and the staff is nowhere to be seen. I watched a kind lady very upset because her day trip was ruined because the car she booked weeks ago wasn't there for her. I should have rented from Enterprise. This will be my first and last Hertz rental.

Worst rental experience I've ever had. The address on the reservation was a hotel. No Hertz there. Went a second location (more time, more expense just to get there), waited in a huge line for more than an hour. Sitting here in the waiting area right now and nothing is happening. 2 of the 3 employees are gone and the third is doing nothing (waiting for them?) Wasting a gorgeous day.

Attention, rip-off warning to my German compatriots: I rented a car here through the ADAC and at the same time took out a lot of insurance that is useful for America, including fully comprehensive insurance without deductible, glass and tire protection, unlimited mileage, liability insurance and insurance against uninsured opponents. In other words: an all-round, worry-free package that I had previously used with Alamo via ADAC without any complications. At Herzt, however, it works like this: In Germany, you paid EUR 1,400 for the rental. In Portland, Hertz blocked an additional $906. When it was handed in at the end of August, ANOTHER amount of just under $705 was paid. And now? To date, the blocked $906 has not been released by Hertz, even though the car was returned without defects and the final bill arrived by email within an hour. According to my bank, the money will remain blocked until the end of September because Hertz wants it that way. What do you say to that? Am I the bank for Hertz now? Why is this company blocking a total of $906 for two months on a car that was returned in new condition? Hotline: a robot. Speaking to an employee: kicked off hold. Email: no reply. Bye Hertz. The 2 ladies at the counter did there part, awesome service. There is a lack of communication between them an the people who deal with the cars. Or the computer system. They should know what cars are available. I was given a stall number, when I got there. An empty space. I had to wait more than 30 mins so I can get a car, not the one I had rented but something similar. I was not the only one with that problem. Other people were not finding the rental car. At one point, cars were being parked an randomly told people to take them or just hoped in an left. Kind of sucks. I do rent with hertz but won’t do it at this location. Car was not fully clean and was missing small parts.

I reserved a Model Y. When I arrived there were no Model Ys available but they couldn’t reduce the cost to get another car. I paid a Model Y price and got a lower-level car. Also, the garage is 100% disgusting. See photo.

Upon return I spoke to the manager who was very kind and thoughtful. He gave me a discount and a credit and refunded me for the fuel surcharge. He provided great customer service to make it right. I was about to stop using Hertz but I will use them again.

Yikes. Don't rent with Hertz. They had a glitch in their system and instead of honoring the price and car we were given (we had emails and receipts), they charged us double for a totally different car with different gas mileage. The people were nice enough but apparently company policy is to not help the customer. We were also told we'd be able to pickup at the airport and ended up needing to Uber 20 minutes into downtown. All in all, way more expensive than we'd budgeted and nothing to help ease that burden.

Hertz did not have the car I reserved. No explanation or assistance finding a car elsewhere. My trip was ruined and I was stuck without transportation to the coast where my hotel was. Do not make a reservation with Hertz. They don’t honor their reservations so “reservation” is meaningless to them.

Booked online months ago through Expedia- now saying that “manager’s special” could include an electric vehicle- which may not be supported if you are driving to remove areas around the state. EV was not mentioned on EXPEDIA.

The staff was super helpful and did their best to help us in a rough situation. Never booking through Expedia again!

Whatever you do, do not choose this location! We showed up after confirming our reservation every day and they had no cars available… they advised to sit tight and hopefully someone will bring a car back. Save your time and headaches by going to enterprise or any other location.

I only returned my car here, but it’s quite confusing. There is a parking lot in the building, it has a Hertz sign outside but when you go in and get to the gate with the ticket machine, there’s no Hertz signage at all. Once you get IN, you’ll see tiny signs saying Hertz parking on level 6. After you get there and park in a spot (any spot? Again, no instructions), you’re meant to drop off keys in a dropbox (where? No instructions). Couldn’t find this box so left the parking ticket in the car, walked down to level 1 and to the Hertz counter. Waited about 15 minutes and handed keys over, reported the mileage and fuel level, and was done.

I made a reservation for a mid size SUV a month in advance at this location as it was a block away from the hotel I was going to stay. When I arrived at the location for rental pickup, they said they had no cars available and I would have to go to the airport to try my luck. What the point of making a prior booking at the Hertz location when you don't have vehicles available. Really disappointed with the service. Had to ultimately go Dollar to pick up a rental.

I arrived with a prepaid rental only to be told very bluntly there are no more cars. They said they have a 2 hour policy even if flights are delayed its my responsibility to tell them so they don't give away the car. I paid for the car for a week so it should not matter what time I pick it up or if I drive 1 mile or 10,000 miles its my car for the week. After arguing with the sales person a spoke with a supervisor who was able to locate "one last car". There was no paperwork or documentation to mark damages on the vehicle, I was left alone to drive the car out of the lot. I was told later I should have come back with pictures if I wanted to note damages because the "system was down", something that was not communicated at pickup. After returning the vehicle I was charged significantly more than expected including an age differential fee. I am 34 years old and provided my drives license at pickup. I don't know how you give away a prepaid rental, don't document damages or vehicle status, and then overcharge a bill by that much. I tried calling the location several times. The phone would ring for 3 minutes and then hang up with nobody ever answering. The location is horrible, the elevator was filled with urine and the garage is unsecure in a bad area. Would not recommend this Hertz to anyone.

Waiting here with at least 20 people. All had paid reservations - no cars available. Staff are unapologetic. This is completely unacceptable and unprofessional. Will never be using Hertz again, what a joke.

The car was dirty and had stains on the inside where the trunk is. Service engine maintenance popped up mid way into our trip. Windshield washer fluid was out which we had to replace. There was a dead bug in the car. The floor was not vacuumed. The representative did not come up with us to check the quality of the car. And there were multiple scratches on the car. On our way back, the window sealer popped out of the windshield as well and was flapping in the wind. My parents will not be using Hertz going forth.

Place was dirty and the front desk didnt offer upgrade even after President circle.
The car we got was clean though …
