Holman Lane Entrance Forest Park reviews
8This entry is nice during covid times since it is much less trafficked than other entry points.
Beautiful walk. Path may be muddy following rain. Very dog friendly. Unfortunately, the rock structure was tagged up recently so of course was a disappointment to see and took away from the natural prestine of the overall place.
One of my favorite close-in trails. It allows you to avoid the crowds along the Macleay trail to get to Wildwood trail. I usually take Holman Lane all the way up to 53rd then take Birch back down to Wildwood to get back to where I started.
Started on Holman lane, connect with wildwood trail and stay on that to Pittock mansion! Just have to cross a pretty busy road and have a nice mile up an incline and you pop out into the Pittock mansion parking lot. Turn left in the parking lot and you’ll come across the mansion and some great views!
An absolute joy to take a hike through the forest. Great facilities like bathrooms, mini playground with swings, picnic tables, and even limited parking spots. Easy enough to get to using public transportation. Easy access to the stone house. Expect some decent foot traffic near the stone house but the many miles of snaking trails nearby are a great way to enjoy nature without a large crowd. Minimal foot traffic with well crafted and well marked trails.
It's a lot better since the last time I was at this trail, bridges that where down have been updated with steel ones.
Beautiful Forest Park entrance, nice sloping path, great for kids. Parking not wonderful but that's expected. Ladybug walk met here.
My grandparents house is just down the street from this entrance so we have used it my entire life. It's a nice quiet entrance with a meadow below the actual trail leading into the park. This entrance brings you pretty close to the infamous "Witches House" inside the park. While this entrance is in a residential area there is always parking on the side streets leading up to the entrance.
