Hot Lava Bakery, Sunriver OR

Absolutely love this bakery! I cannot go often enough. The staff here are so friendly and helpful. Even when it's super busy, like over the holidays, they are always courteous and try to make everyone's experience great. Their pastries are amazing and never disappoint.

We visited on New Year's Day. The service was slow, and the offerings were already depleted even at just ten am. We got donuts, and were somewhat disappointed. The ratio of dough to topping was off - too much dough. Probably would not choose to go back if we are ever in town again.

This bakery is amazing! They have such a great atmosphere with staff that are super friendly and helpful. I have been to Hot Lava on multiple occasions and each time, the food and the drinks have been spot on! Highly recommend this place to anyone traveling near or far to the Sunriver village!

Hot Lava is the best! Their donuts are always light, fluffy and fresh. The staff is amazing even when they are packed in the summer. They also make beautiful custom cakes. Definitely stop by when you are in Sunriver!

Apparently they decided to "shut off the ovens" before 2pm even though they are open until 4pm. I really wanted a breakfast bagel, but ended up just getting a mediocre, borderline stale donut.

The coffee girl was the only saving grace today… The girl making the sandwiches was unpleasant. Gave our food to the wrong people, who opened and touched our food and when I brought it up to the gal at the counter, there was no offer to remake our food!? We had to get our $23 in breakfast sandwiches (2), from the couple that already opened and handled them… Will not be returning.

Incredible service! From the bakers to the FOH. Fun tasty pastries and great environment. A must visit when in Sunriver!

My coffee was perfect! I shared a scone with blueberries and a strawberry cream cheese turnover with my best friend. We agreed that the texture of the turnover was heavenly. The scone wasn't dried out like some scones are. It had so much flavor! I'm going to get us donuts next time. They are HUGE, look delicious and they are so fresh. Can't wait to go back!

Donut Stop #68 on my donut world tour. I like donuts. I test and taste the best around and definitely some of the worst.

In terms of maple flavor, the donut frosting is what saved these guys. They made a decent Maple Bar. Kudos. The bread was soft but not airy and tasteless. The flavor was good and the price over what it's worth.

The other options were limited and more posh than I expected for donuts but it felt like a micro scale Starbucks.

Taste being ok, storefront being "meh" I give this place a 6/10.

Been coming to this bakery since I was a small child. Now 30 years later coming as an adult with my children is pretty cool.

They still serve amazing pastries and good coffee. But the donuts are the main attraction for me. If you're looking for a big delicious donut this is the place.

The line was long early in the morning. But they had the donuts we were looking for which made it worth it. Not much else to compete with in sunriver unless you drive to bend. Donuts were good and large with the classic maple, chocolate, and sprinkle options. Nothing exotic like mochi or weird fillings but good classic donuts. And donut holes. Also had coffee, sandwiches, and cakes.

The best cinnamon rolls I've ever eaten! Also great sandwiches and nice service. I recommend visiting:)

Very good quality pastries and rolls, minimal seating indoors though there is adequate seating outside, weather permitting.

Wonderful custom cake! We ordered a vanilla cake with chocolate butter cream frosting and a butter cream frosting inside layer. Delicious! We were visiting from Seattle and celebrating a birthday here. Amazingly, in Seattle it’s been hard to find a cake maker with a cake that actually tastes sweet and delicious! The cake we got at the Hot Lava Bakery exceeded our expectations! Kudos to the baker there, and thanks for the wonderful dessert!

This place is lovely, has a good selection, and pleasant staff, but like Blondies nearby, suffers from its popularity as the wait time can start to really get up there if you order anything not ready-to-eat such as coffee or sandwiches. If you don't mind the wait, though, the food is great. Had a Marrionberry Fritter and a raspberry macaroon, which were delicious!

This is an amazing place. Lines are out the door. My sister-n-law got me the lemon tart, really good. The Brownie was just ok. I went back the next morning and got their bread pudding. I haven't tried it yet, but I did have their apple strudel and it is amazing. My wife had the maple bar, also amazing.
