We loved our stay at Hotel Rose. It was a great location right on the riverfront. And we loved the free bikes!

Loved our stay and the pups really had a blast. Keep in mind that the beds are high, so some pets may have a harder time getting on it. The hotel building is rather old and has central heating, but lovely staff was able to save us and provided a space heater. Comfy beds, amazing staff and pet lovers on every corner! A welcome drink and water is such a lovely bonus!
Unfortunately due to the fact that it's downtown there are lots of homeless people around, otherwise the location is great.

It was a nice quaint hotel, and unexpectedly I was pleased. It was just the fact that it’s wayyyyy too many homeless people wandering around. Portland was good to me for cheap cannabis but overall gloomy with bold displaced residents.

I chose this hotel as it was recommended and discounted through OHSU hospital for patients traveling for medical care. I was extremely disappointed when I pulled into the hotel and found that there was full blown tent city on the sidewalks surrounding the hotel. Dozens of tents, people and trash everywhere. I tried to give it the benefit of the doubt, but only minutes after checking in to my room a fight broke out right outside our window and people were fighting and screaming. This type of behaviors continued through the night, it was quite distressing and felt extremely unsafe. I also chose this hotel as it is close to the river and I thought it would be nice to go for a walk along the water. Absolutely no way to go for a pleasant walk in this area.

I ended up checking out early and was refunded for the days I did not stay which was nice.

I was traveling with a very young baby and asked the front desk if they could give me a hand with my luggage as I was leaving and he simply said “we don’t offer that” to which I almost begged for a hand and was denied. As I was leaving a janitor saw how badly I was struggling trying to push a stroller, carry a backpacking backpack and push a cart full of baby essentials and offered me a hand. Such a sweet man, but I was so insanely disappointed that the 2 people at the front desk who were not busy assisting customers simply could not be bothered to help me for literally 3 minutes.

Would not recommend to anyone trying to find somewhere that’s stress free.

The location is great, right across the street from the river and riverfront park. There are shops and interesting places to visit within blocks. The location is not worth the stay in this hotel. Our room was dark, dingy and cold. The room felt old and worn out. Mold in the bathroom, no exhaust fan to get the steam out. The shower was gross and dirty. They do offer a new shower mat but it is super slippery. The bed was creaky and had a big dip on one side. The bathroom has a door that slides and doesn’t fully close. The one chair in the room was broke down and sagging. Their offered service to stream from your phone does not work well due to poor Wi-Fi. The smell of old food or grease comes through the forced air vent. The view we payed for was obstructed by a filthy window. The walls are so thin you can hear full conversations in the halls and from your neighbors. The little interaction with the staff we had was fine. They were nice and greeted us, but nice staff doesn’t make up for the lack of upkeep and dilapidation of this hotel. Luckily we came for a concert and only a few hours from home so after the concert we went home instead of staying longer.

Great staff! Wonderful food in the restaurant plenty of parking and a view of the river. I will definitely visit again!

The staff was great! In-particular there was a front desk person named Mikala, she could see that I was having a rough morning lack of sleep, partly due to a hangover (self inflicted) but also because there was no heat in my room (I heard a couple of other guests saying the same thing) To their credit they gave me a portable heater, and the weather was not freezing outside. The staff are aware of the problem and they were all very kind/helpful. In short they controlled what they could, but the heat is a problem.

Location quite ok, room ok, balcony door very stiff, poor noise insulation, street very loud, generally noises from everywhere in the hotel.
No heating possible at the end of September (it was really cold in the room), as the hotel was poorly insulated (statement from reception), currently.only Airco possible. Parking very good. Free coffee and water at the reception was praised when checking in, but was not found at our times. We would choose alternative.

If you want to wait at least 30 minutes for breakfast on each day you can visit here. Service is horrible

The cute pineapple theme was great but they are not only pet friendly, they encourage it! Perfect location downtown within walking distance of wonderful restaurants and bars. The riverside public park across the street was an amazing place to explore and take the dog on a walk. I will definitely book this again next time I visit Portland.
(It's not that kind of pineapple hotel)
I booked on Air B&B and chose the pet option and was not charged. When checking out, I was charged the $25 pet fee per night on top of what I had already paid thinking it was included on the listed price on Air B&B. Just a weird thing with cross platform booking. Not a big deal.
I love the place and highly recommend!

The customer service at this hotel was absolutely wonderful! Our trucks gas tank was drilled out at the airport and meant we couldn't get over for night #1 and they were more than understanding and even offered a refund for that night!

Super dog friendly hotel and the room itself was clean and comfy. Bathroom was super clean with decent shampoo/body wash but the conditioner wasn't so great. Great amenities too like free bottled water and a welcome drink of choice.

Breakfast at the bottle & kitchen was great, views of the river and delicious vegetarian options! I would recommend the breakfast burrito with a black bean patty.

Location is great, within walking distance to many great coffee shops and food spots - pine street market is great for ramen! If you need to park, it's $25 per night.

I would 100% stay here again the next time I am in Portland!

Simple but very comfortable. Can't beat the location - easily accessible to downtown and the transit

Great stay near what we wanted to do. Super friendly staff, comfy bed and nice towels. Overnight parking was less expensive than other hotels.

Very comfortable! Walls are kinda thin though The way into the hotel is a little confusing, and there are homeless right across the street, so it's important to lock your car and not leave belongings!
Also I'm serious about being comfy, the bed and comforter are the coziest I've ever had, I wanted to take them home with me lol

The Rose hotel is the only hotel that we stay at in Portland. The location is great just across the street from the river. The staff is excellent especially Kennedy who works as a manager. There are wonder resturants with in easy walking distance.

We booked the queen bed riverside view suite months before our stay directly through the hotel website. About an hour before we arrived, I received an email about an update to our reservation - they “upgraded” us to a king suite… but this added an extra $50 to the total cost + an extra $5 to the original amenity fee. To be clear, we did not request an upgrade or a change to the reservation. When we arrived at check in, I told them we did not want the upgrade, and they assured us they would not charge us extra, and they had the room available so they decided to upgrade us for free. Then, they tried to charge us the extra $55 anyway! I had to show them my original confirmation price and they eventually changed it. I find that really sketchy and they were definitely trying to take advantage of us, hoping we wouldn’t notice the price increase.

On top of that, I was originally going to book through Airbnb because it was $20 cheaper than booking through the hotel website. I called and asked why it was more expensive, and they said the hotel booking includes the amenity fee of $20. Turns out, that was a lie. They charged me an extra $20 anyway.

The “amenity fee” is absolutely a scam. They advertise “free water” and “goodies. ” We just stayed for one night, so we paid $20 for 2 small water bottles… how is that fair? We did not use the coffee or have any “goodies. ” Just charge by consumption like literally every other hotel.

As for location, the view is somewhat pretty and it is close to a lot of things in the city. However, the hotel is next to a lot of homeless camps, which made us feel unsafe going out at night. The parking situation is very sketchy. You’re parking at street level with no security gate or anything… for $25! Anyone could walk into the parking lot and break in with no security reinforcement. And this has happened to guests before. They say they have security but we didn’t see any. We had to bring every single thing from our car into our room for fear that someone would break into our car.

The room was somewhat nice, but the comforter was strange. Essentially, you have 2 comforters instead of one, so my boyfriend and I each had our own blanket. They were very small and kept slipping off, so neither of us slept well. We would’ve preferred one large comforter. The toilet bowl was dirty, and the shower was odd - there is no door and a lot of water got on the floor. The bathroom didn’t seem clean at all.

Overall, we wouldn’t recommend and won’t be returning. My $112 room turned into $154 after the ridiculous hidden fees for literally nothing. They try to scam you out of your money.

Came in for the weekend. The location of the hotel is easy to find but my room faced the Hwy and the noise was definitely present, even on the 5th floor. (See photo for view). I would say the walls are a little thin, because you could hear casual conversations as people were walking down the hallways and in the rooms next to me.

The parking is a little weird, if you bought parking, there is no access to the basement from the main level so you either need to access it from inside the hotel elevator or walk down the street and around the corner. The basement garage is low (6’10”) and some of the spots have a slanted roof above them. Street parking was also available and seemed to be well lit.

Check in and out was extremely easy, the bed was comfortable, and the staff very friendly. I was exhausted by the time I arrived so never made it down to the restaurant but it smelt amazing and seemed to be quite busy with guests. Upon arrival, you are also provided a coaster for the restaurant for a drink; and an option to adopt a little stuffed animal (mine was dash) but he stayed behind.

The room: most basic necessities, King bed, dresser, nightstands with lamps, usb ports, coffee maker, but no mini fridge or microwave. The lamps seemed to be a little older or well used because I sometimes had to tap two of them after cutting on the switch to get them to come on or stay on. They do provide two robes, an ironing board and hair dryer. The robes weren’t nearly as plush as depicted in the photos which is a shame. I’d happily have purchased a new large fluffy robe if it were an option.

The bathroom is a sliding door (shared with the closet) that doesn’t fully close (leaves about a half inch gap) due to the rubber stopper. The towels were nice and plush which was needed bc the shower is a walk in with no door. It’s the solid pane of glass with a low pressure waterfall shower head. Even with the low pressure, water still splashes out and gets the bathmat wet.

Lastly, if you’ve never visited Portland (or any major city), there are tents around and hotel Rose is no exception to this, as they are directly on the other side of the road.

Overall, I feel like Hotel Rose is a little worn out for the price point but that seems to be a trend with the Pineapple Hotels (this is my 3rd one). The focus seems to be the main guest areas and not the rooms, so I’ll probably not book Stay Pineapple again. Shame because the idea is amazing but the execution is lacking.

Everything was good except the showerhead should be replaced low water pressure was only coming through half the holes.

What a cute little hotel, front desk was amazing and the towels robes and bed were so cozy, very close to everything surrounding downtown. I definitely recommend to anyone who is debating this cute little hotel!
