When Dad died shortly thereafter, I had to contact L3Valuation out of the blue to get a full copy of that valuation for tax purposes. Recently, my father passed away and as executor of his estate, left me to sort out several industrial and commercial properties. L3 Valuation came on referral from my CPA to provide the appraisal needed by the State of Oregon and the IRS for my father’s estate tax return. Our family limited partnership was considering a charitable donation of our large complex portfolio of retail centers and office buildings to a local university. After interviewing several of the national and brokerage valuation firms in Portland, Oregon, we were dismayed to find all gave fairly standard “cookie cutter” responses to our questions, if they responded at all. We then interviewed L3 Valuation and found the depth of their knowledge of IRS rules for charitable donations very insightful, and also found them refreshingly open and honest in explaining our options. The partners worked with our CPA to provide well written, defensible appraisals to submit to the government. Their reports were accepted with our tax returns with no questions.
