1 I have ordered from Dave Schoenmann at Shastina /Mann-Lake since at least 2016. He’s always offered to give me deals, saying I should deal with him directly. As a customer, as long as the service and products are good, I really don’t care who gets credit for the sale. That all changed this past week when I went to place an order worth almost $6000.
I texted DS my order and he had a clerk named “Joey” process it, which has never happened before. Usually, DS handles my orders personally. From my first conversation w Joey, I sensed he may have not had much training, and was concerned he might make mistakes. I asked DS to handle the order, but he insisted that Joey do it. In retrospect I should’ve just canceled everything then because every aspect of our order was handled poorly/incorrectly. For starters, the entire order was shipped to an incorrect address in a completely different city. Second, third, and fourth, the order itself was incorrect, I was never invoiced properly, and DS admitted to lax handling of my corporate credit card when entering payment info. Strangely, he thought he had charged a cc belonging to one of my biz partners (who hasn’t ordered in over five years), and had absolutely nothing to do with my order, even though he had in fact charged my company card. This last issue was particularly troubling because just yesterday I got eight frantic calls/messages, both from Joey and then Dave starting 14 minutes before close of business. The messages said that I would need to pay for my entire order immediately by a credit card, or they would “ruin my credit with Mann-lake”. I expressed to DS how concerned and confused I was about the whole episode, and he replied that he was concerned about getting reprimanded by Mann-Lake. He said “if this hits their desk in the morning it’ll be the end of me. ” I told him that I “would trust him until I had a reason not to trust him. ”
I don’t know what’s going on at DS at Shastina/Mann-Lake but I simply cannot do business with him/them any longer. DS admitted to not treating my credit card information in a secure fashion, so I had to file a fraud alert and have all our corporate credit cards re-issued. I also will be sending a formal letter of inquiry to Mann Lake next week. This is a very unfortunate situation for all involved and I hope that Shastina/Mann-Lake can investigate and make whatever changes Need to be made to increase security and customer confidence. If they do these things, I will certainly revise my review upward.
