McMenamins Kennedy School, Portland OR

Room was clean. Loved the heavy blankets on the bed. Breakfast was perfect. Eggs Benedict. For $8 I was hoping for some whip cream on my Baileys and coffee. Was there for a work event

Went out to dinner with some friends, I had a regular hamburger with soup, a side of tater tots, a salad, and one beer. With tip the bill same to $62.75. The salad by itself was $18. This is a great place don't get me wrong and the food was decent but the cost was in my opinion unnecessary price gouging. I'd like to go back but maybe just for a beer.

We had our annual Christmas party here. The food was quite good and the service was excellent. The staff had a great time. The beer and wine were good and my staff liked the mixed drinks. After the party we went to the boiler room bar which is quite unique with its layout and decor. The service was good there as well. There are a couple of pool tables as well as a shuffle board table for entertainment. We had a good breakfast the next morning. The hotel rooms are very nice. They have a nice hot soaking pool to use as well.

I went to the soaking pool, it was so relaxing and the vibes were sooo nice. Even though it was pretty busy on a Saturday, we were still able to find a spot and talk. I really loved it. There’s also an espresso bar and regular bar to get drinks to bring in with you! I didn’t stay in a hotel room but the vibes of the hotel were really nice. Kinda like imagine Matilda’s school as a hotel. Low lighting, super old school but elegant.

I want to like this place. But the last 2 times, my experience with the blond guy at the front desk just soured everything.

Went for a workshop for my job.the place is really cool.got to look around a bit, saw the main attractions.while I'm not a big public soak kind of person, it was neat! Definitely recommend checking out all the neat little bars and I bet you'll find one that suits you just right! My personal favorite is Detention!

On arrival, our group was confused. We thought we were going to the boiler room when we were actually sent to the principles office. Everything was great: service, food, area. Hope our group gets to visit again.

Stayed black Friday and the day after. Such a nice place to stay! The ambience is great and the history of the place is palpable. Staff was great to interact with, and Shasta in particular took great care of us when checking in and gave us great suggestions. I did give 4 stars because our neighbors had a large and loud dog who interrupted our mornings for two days in a row. Suggestion: try to book people housing animals next to each other so they at least have that expectation. All around a lovely place to stay, that aside!

Very cool bars inside this refurbished elementary school. We didn't stay in hotel rooms, so can't rate them. We got there for happy hour and got good deal on drinks and burgers. Place is amazingly Decorated.

What an amazing place to spend a night - includes nearby brewery and theater. Staying at the school is special, including the personalized stories of the teachers who taught in the room that you stay in.

I love the variety of bars/venues in this location. Amazing decor/themes. Food in bar areas is not very good. Extremely greasy fish and chips. I am a local, so have never stayed in the hotel section.

Such a fun place to stay, especially as a teacher. Amazing decor in an old school building, including comfortable rooms and lots of options for food and drinks. I love how the designers spotlight local history. I could spend hours looking at all the art on the walls. My favorite spots are the Boiler Room and the soaking pool. Kennedy School is always our first choice when we need a place to stay in Portland.

The open floor that allows you to explore the once school, is really fun. Once class rooms or detention are now little bars or boarding rooms. The wine selection is superb, the drinks are tasty, but the food not so much. I feel as if the menu hasn’t changed in years and could use a bit of a revamp.

Wonderful place. I would recommend more shelves and towel bars in the bathroom, and better lighting in the hallway and, especially, the cloakroom.

Good eclectic place to have some food and drinks. Enjoyed wandering around and discovering the atmosphere of the whole school.

This is a very lovely place. As a former school it has a great combination of large and small spaces. There are great restaurants and bars. There are large rooms for parties. They pretty much can handle a multitude of needs with ease.

Used to be fun, NO MORE, closing restrooms during dinner time, THERE ONLY TWO, smaller portions with hyperinflated prices. Dirty.
Avoid, I am almost done with ALL Mcmenamins, definitely not what it once was.
