So my bedroom was soaked die to a leak in the laundry room next door. My carpet was soaked, I had industrial blowers in here and everything had to be moved. There was another problem with my kitchen sink leaking so they pulled out the dishwasher, I can't use the kitchen sink or water will leak into the living room, my drawers are all on the counters and my floor is torn up and sticky like fly paper. The kitchen problem has been going on for nearly 2 months with no end in site. The rental portal where automated payments are made showed a credit for $700, I called about the credit and was told it' must be a credit for the flooding of my bedroom. So this month someone tacked that amount on to the full cost of my unit with no adjustments for living in hell as required by law and when they took that inflated payment without warning, they sent my bank account into a mess of late charges and bank fees. I am so angry. They have me living in squalor with no wY to do dishes but my bathtub and I pay $1528. I have contacted management and there response was we can break the lease and you can go ignoring the fact I had help from an age Cy to get me moved in and pay deposits and now I don't. I had a heart attack last year and this is exactly the kind of stress I cannot tolerate, I am actually experiencing arrhythmia due to being so upset by this situation. I have put up with too much already and these people are charging me to live in squalor while they. Dhop bids to have the things fixed that by law are to be in working order.
Don't move here unless you're an attorney or hace one in the family because you are going ro end up needing one to force them to provide a habitable unit. $1528 for a ghetto where I hace to use the the bathroom as a kitchen sink, shower and to wash pets - unbelievable. And on top of that taking over $2300 out of my account for September despite the credit I waa told was compensation. They have destroyed my finances. Nothing here is worth having to live under a this management company/ slum lords

So far my experience with Montclair has been below the bare minimum. It feels like the company assumes since the kitchen and appliances are in decent condition, they can cut corners in other areas. For example, one of our toilets did not flush for the first month, and we were told they would fix it within a few days/week. Nothing happened until I asked for a rent credit, so it seems pretty obvious that they value your money over your quality of life. The leasing staff are kind and respectful, and I assume they don’t have much say or control over things on the property, so I don’t blame them. It’s really no different from all the other apartments complexes. Nothing is perfect, things break and your quality of life suffers because of capitalism.

The apartment itself is nice, but the management is the worst I’ve ever dealt with. We moved in February of 2022 when John was still the manager and he was so pleasant. He and his maintenance staff had tons of amazing reviews, which is the sole reason why I chose Montclair. A few weeks after moving in, he and his team unfortunately left and the management has sucked ever since. Maintenace takes 2+ months to complete, if they even do it at all. They answer the phone maybe 20% of the time. They raised my monthly rate the absolute maximum they could and refused to negotiate. They started charging for parking. Car break ins have been happening more often recently. No one was there during my move out day to turn in my keys. And they used my entire $300 deposit for the cleaning fee after I moved out, even though I cleaned thoroughly and was told that wouldn’t happen.

The leasing office and maintenance team are going through growing pains. Secure Properties have been running the show only since April and they've been having a hard time getting the reins on what the units need. It just seems a little chaotic and disorganized right now but I'm confident that things will get better. My personal maintenance requests are reaching over 4 weeks now, I know this is a common issue. I've only been here for 6 weeks. The property itself is absolutely stunning and it is well taken care of. Ample, affordable parking. Lots of garbage/recycling disposal areas. Very serene here. The neighborhood is lovely as well, perfect for walking the dogs. Definitely worth it in my opinion but hoping to see the team get it together to make it better for the care of the actual units and residents here.

Don’t move here.

In my 3.5 years at this complex it went from having horrific neighbors anywhere from having knives waved at your door to being stalked. I had to pay for my own moving cost to transfer units to get away from these neighbors before they were able to complete their eviction process. My experience after that is that no one is friendly and is not a safe community. My neighbors apartment broken into in the same building. They have security that rarely is around and no cameras.

Work orders are 3+ WEEKS out. I went 2 weeks without a working toilet.
Leasing office does not pick up the phone.
My apartment and appliances were falling apart by the time I was moving out.
The communication about the property, updates and follow up on requests is non existent.
New management is unprofessional, upon my move out I had multiple issues and Emely is awful! She has gotten my situation and move out confused with other residents. All of my experiences with her has been unprofessional including arguing with me when I’m asking for information in front of her manager. The manager has Jeremiah has no idea what’s going on and is always gone.

For the price point run!

Jeremiah and Emely are part of the new management transition that is now there. I am not going to pursue chatting with them based on the argumentativeness of Emelyn and the lack of concern as Jeremiah expressed multiple during my move out as stated a few times he had other things to do.

Just run and save yourself the trouble.

The new management's strategy to ensure cleanliness on the grounds involves the hiring of leaf blower crews. Regrettably, this decision has proven to be highly disruptive, as I am abruptly awakened at 8 am every week by the piercing noise generated by their powerful leaf blowers. Not only does this disturbance affect those who work night shifts, but it also demonstrates a grossly ineffective and indolent approach to cleaning. Instead of addressing the issue at hand, the crews merely scatter dust and debris by mindlessly blowing air around. This approach is not only lazy but also fails to achieve the desired outcome of a clean environment and my car ends up getting most of the dust fallout.

We have been trying to get maintenance requests taken care of for months, and our management does not seem to care at all! Our shower is growing mold because the bathroom fan has been out for months and we keep making requests on the online portal that go unanswered. We call the office and try to set things up directly with management and they give us the run around. We finally set up a date for an electrician to come in to look at it, I took off work since my dog does not do well with strangers, and no one even bothered to show up. We contact the office and they say the maintenance man can come check it out but they didn’t schedule the electrician yet…like WHAT? !? !
