I was a member at Morning for a summer and had the most fantastic time. Everyone was really friendly, the space is large, and the firings are frequent:)

Alexa, Jo and the rest of the staff are incredibly knowledgeable and helpful. I had some tight deadlines before the end of my membership and they were really understanding and made sure all of my work was fired and ready by the time I had to go. I really appreciate all the work they do to keep the studio running so smoothly!

If I came back to Portland, Morning Ceramics would be the first place I'd want to visit!

The beginner's class was so worth it and an excellent place for a date night! Although my husband and I have no art skills, we have wanted to attend a ceramics class for a while. We were sat beside each other and got to play and learn how to spin clay at our own pace. Also, our teacher was fantastic! After she taught a skill to the class, she would walk around the classroom, providing hands-on instruction to anyone who wanted it. We had so much fun and will definitely be back again!:)

Morning Ceramics is my go-to studio for firing, glazing and classes. The people are friendly, the facilities are comfortable and accommodating, their glazes are consistent and beautiful, and my abilities in ceramics has increased immensely from taking their classes. I highly recommend this studio for people at all levels in their pottery journey, from new to ceramics, to professionals, Morning Ceramics rocks!

I’ve now had the pleasure of taking a couple of classes at Morning Ceramics and they’ve both been fantastic experiences! My instructors were so knowledgeable and kind and the shop itself is a beyond lovely spot to learn something new. I felt supported 100% and well accommodated. The owners, Alexa and Peter, are also top notch and we’re quick to help with anything I needed. Already looking forward to the next class I know I’ll be taking there!

I can't comment on the quality of classes here. I can comment on their misguided policy. My friend gave me a birthday gift for a class. I have never done pottery before. I was looking forward to learning something new. Unfortunately the week before the class I had to fly out of the country to see a terminally ill family member. My flight back to Portland was cancelled by the airline and I wasn't going to make it back in time for the class. After emailing back and forth, Morning Ceramics refused to reschedule the class. They said they had to stick to their policy because it would be unfair to other customers.

This business is operating under the misnomer that equity means doing the same thing for everyone. Equity is ensuring an individual has everything they need to reach the same level of success as someone who may not need accommodations. I was incredibly disappointed by how they handled the situation. If they had been flexible and accommodating of the extenuating circumstances they would have a repeat customer. As a result, they lost me and my friend as a customers.

I've done a one-day Wheel class and the 8 week Intro to Wheel class as well as had a membership on and off for a few months. This studio and its community is very welcoming. The class teachers are attentive and helpful. I was able to go from zero ability to throwing small pots within the classes mentioned above. They provide both instructed and open studio time for the longer classes which helps you test your skills on your own, and bring questions to the following class. They have a generous firing allowance for classes as well. I would recommend this studio to my friends and family and to anyone who wants to get into ceramics. After I take the advanced wheel throwing class I'll be able to comment on how well it can help those with more experience than myself, and I assume it will be positive as well.

Great studio, both for classes and as a member. Regular firing schedule, they have a signup sheet for Georgie's runs, and ceramics sales for members a few times a year.

My Wheel 101 class was wonderful! The instructor was patient and encouraging and enthusiastic, and the other participants were supportive and fun. Our instructor worked really hard to make sure we all had something to fire by the end of class! (So what if mine has no bottom? My teacher was ready: “put it on a plate and it’s a cute planter! ”)

I have been watching the growth of Morning Ceramics since the very beginning. As both a student and instructor, Morning Ceramics has given me the space to grow as an artist and a member of the clay community in Portland. Alexa and Peter do the most to make the space comfortable, welcoming, and inviting, as do the lovely members!

Morning Ceramics was my first community studio and leaves big shoes to fill. It has grown a lot since I joined in 2020, and Alexa and Peter are constantly looking for ways to improve the space. The studio just makes sense - the layout, the organization, the communication to members. It is a wonderful environment with many opportunities to learn and create ceramics. I highly recommend this studio if you are looking for a workshop or classes, or if you are a seasoned potter looking for a place to call home.

Morning Ceramics Studio is my absolute happy place! You will find a great community of makers of all levels and styles! I did two workshops and started the membership over a year ago.
The owners Alexa and Peter totally rock this place. They work very hard and are always on the lookout for improvements, keeping this place organized, clean and safe. Their management is just impeccable. The instructors and techs are very knowledgeable and talented ceramic artists!
Wonderful people and place, happy to be part of this gem!

I took the 8-week Intro to Wheel class at Morning Ceramics and it was an amazing class. Learning how to throw has been such a life changing experience for me so much so that I’m taking the class again just so I can be in the studio! I highly recommend it! (Shout out to Paige for being an excellent instructor) The studio itself is wonderful - it has such a cool and calming vibe and the staff/ownership are so welcoming and kind. I love being in the space. I can’t wait to be a full time member.

I was so excited to try this place and it did not disappoint! I had never done anything with clay, much less use a wheel, but my instructor Alexa was so encouraging and fun; I left feeling excited to delve more into the art and confident with the foundational skills she taught! It’s also such a welcoming environment! It was fun to see the community, meet the regulars, and admire their creations. It can be hard to try something new and walk into an environment where others are way more advanced. But I felt so at home and everyone’s passion was contagious! Definitely worth checking out if you live in the area, or even if you’re just in town for a visit.

Let me say, I absolutely love love love this studio! I started off taking a 6 week beginners course and fell in love. The studio itself is so cute, the instructors are patient and kind, and the owners, Alexa and Peter, are so welcoming and friendly. I loved it so much I took a second course and soon became a member. This studio has a family feel and there are so many talented artist who are willing to share advice and give encouragement. This place gave me joy, especially during the pandemic when an outlet for stress was much needed. Morning Ceramics is a gem in this community!

I was a member here until I was able to have a home studio. Alexa was so welcoming and answered all the questions I had as a new potter. I would recommend this studio to anyone especially those looking to begin ceramics.

Love this ceramic studio. Two of my favorite mugs ever came from artists at this studio as well as a collection of tiny gnomes that bring me an inordinate amount of joy! I definitely try to stop by when I hear they are having sales. If you like to play with clay or just like ceramics, check them out!

As a very occasional dabbler in pottery, Morning has been a very approachable and welcoming environment, and I'd recommend it to anybody looking to dip their toes into making ceramics. I also love all of the pieces I've bought at their sales!
