Mother's Bistro & Bar reviews
17Busy day, only table was by the kitchen (very noisy) The cinnamon rolls were the best. My omelet was overcooked. Lawrence or Lorenzo was our waiter and you couldn’t ask for a better one! He was a joy and so attentive. We will definitely be returning, but not on a Sunday morning. Lol.
Fantastic place to get breakfast. So many good things on the menu and you will not be disappointed in what you order. Bring an appetite as you might want to try more than one or two things. The only negative is something beyond the control of Mother's, the homeless around the neighborhood are still a problem. Worth the trip into Portland to get breakfast here.
Great service, fast delivery of food to our table, great vibes, and wonderful food. We enjoy eating at breakfasts places and Portland does not disappoint.
Extensive food and drink menu, from matzah ball soup to classy cocktails and real milkshakes. Staff is fantastic. A Portland institution.
It was very busy. The food wasn't as good as I had heard, but very tasty non the less. Some items were priced inexpensively while others were quite overpriced. Service was great for how busy they were.
First rate French press coffee and great breakfast. Always my #1 pick for breakfast out, and I am not much of a breakfast person.
The service was excellent, but the food was not. Very bland and dry. The atmosphere inside was nice. However, the area the restaurant is located in did not feel the safest.
Idiots. Why would you put the gravy ON the biscuits for a to-go order? Now I’ve got soggy biscuits and cold gravy. Put the gravy in a small container separate from the biscuits, like every other decent restaurant. This avoids soggy biscuits and will help keep the gravy warm / easy to reheat. Just threw your food in the trash and am now ordering from Cadillac Cafe.
Just stopped by Portland for 1 night and unexpectedly found this restaurant. It was amazing! Will be back
We got the salmon hash, biscuits and gravy, and the Guatemalan French press. All of them were delicious. Large portions, order the half order unless you are sharing.
Once again, our family with three generations enjoyed a delicious brunch. The only complaint is that there is no reward for a mother bringing in 12 family members. Also, wish we had known about the free valet parking with the adjoining hotel! Treat yourselves to a delicious meal here.
Wholesome homestyle recipes served with teamwork and professionalism in a comfortable and absolutely gorgeous atmosphere at inflated but not overpriced prices.
The French country decor is lovely!
Breakfast is best!
If you ever get a chance to try a Pecan cinnamon roll do so before they sell out every day. Beat cinnamon roll ever.
My favorite brunch spot in Portland! The food is actually seasoned and not bland and the mimosas are super boozy!
What a pot of gold in downtown Portland! Carter was our waiter and was ON POINT with his service. Friendly and engaging. Biscuits and gravy: delish biscuit and recommend half order as the biscuit is dense and amazing. Gravure was flavorful and wasn't canned. Stuffed fritatta was just as amazing. House coffee is flavorful and no bitterness. This place is a must try and MUST return. Thank you Carter for making our first experience great.
So stumbled upon this place looking for a new brunch spot. Parking is very limited based on location alone. The atmosphere is an elegant warm country-ish feel, but it can be quite loud based on seating and acoustics. Service was very friendly and prompt. The food was great. I didn't try a bloody like I normally do, but when I go back I'll update the review.
Food had absolutely incredible taste, the server was fantastic, but the food came out cold after only a few minutes from ordering. Not quite sure how food can come out so quickly after ordering but be luke warm to cold.
