I had a small electric issue I couldn't get anywhere with and this shop made my huge problem like a walk in the park.

These guys are great. Very trustworthy. They won't try to sell you on unnecessary parts. The owner is very knowledgeable and the tech I met seemed to know what he was doing. 100% will always take my vehicles here from now on.

I came for a tune up, and for my shifter to be fixed!

I purchased my 95' 940 from the original owner, who is a good friend of mine.
180k original miles
Asked for a tune up & they took my 230FD cylinder head
& replaced it with junkyard sh¿t.
They replaced my distributor, fuel injectors & dozens of other things I didn't authorize.my tune up came with the price of my entire cylinder head 1000531 aw71
They had my car over a month!
For a tune up & shift lock mechanism.
THEY DONT CHECK YOU IN,
JUST TAKE YOUR KEYS.
THEY DON'T WRITE ANYTHING UP.
THEY RATTLE IT OFF THE TOP OF THEIR HEADS. SMH.
COULDN'T EVEN REMEMBER WHAT THEY DID TO MY VEHICLE. SEE YOU IN THE COMFORTS OF JUDICIAL SYSTEM.

I have another 940 with 350k
The top end was rebuilt.
I know when the top end / short block has been swapped.
Like i wouldn't notice.

SEE YOU SOON - (: HOPE YOU'RE AS READY AS ME

Absolutely wonderful in all aspects-from customer service, to skills/ service, to pricing. They are efficient and provide the highest quality of service, while maintaining complete transparency about findings and recommendations. I feel SO RELIEVED to have an auto shop I can fully trust. I know I'm in great hands, and would highly recommend them to anyone and everyone who's looking for the best of the best. I appreciate MVP immensely!

Second only to my dad, I wouldn’t go anywhere else in Portland. Good & honest mechanics that care about their customers.

I've been going to MVP for a couple years now. I drive a 2000 Subaru so I always try to go to a specialist. These guys work on Volvo's and Subaru's. Paul the owner has always been accommodating to getting me in and out- and while there might be a couple organizational issues, there is a new receptionist that I think is squaring those away. I don't feel like they call for work that isn't necessary & would recommend anyone with a Volvo or Subaru to check MVP out.

So understand I have been here about 4 times. These guys have almost everything new in my Engine. But this last time things where off. The Secretary kept giving me the run around. I knew it but kept my cool because the work they do is very good. Example I called her she said there waiting for a very important part. Then she reply 7 hours later they brought the wrong part then the next day she said they order the wrong dipstick Do u see what she doing. She forgetting what she telling me when I got my car out I still had my original dip stick.

Great quality work and very reasonable. Fit me in immediately and saved me a lot of money. I’ll be referring others here.

It took over a month to get my son's car fixed, and the stories he kept telling me were actually kind of funny. I'm in the car business myself. And when I would call he would give me the part isn't in story, and then he went into they sent me the wrong part anyways, one month to fix a heater is ridiculous. His price was fair, but I also had to rent my son a car for a little over $500 for the whole month which I thought was a little high. Thank you for your disservice. And I used you because you were convenient and close to my son's location. Even if I have to drive to Eugene for a mechanic I think I will get a better deal.

If I could give this place less than one star, I would. You're better off being ripped off at a dealership than at MVP Subaru.

I brought my car here last winter. Based on the experience I had, I'm surprised that this business is still standing.

I had a bad feeling in my gut at multiple stages throughout the process, and wish I had acted on that feeling. The location was convenient, and work was busy, so I allowed the downward spiral to continue.

I went into a repair with an array of issues, one of which seemed like a transmission issue. I made it known that diagnosing that was my top priority, because I wasn't ready to put money for such an expensive repair into a car that wasn't worth it.
I provided a number of engine codes for the various things I had going on.
The owner checked my car in, but didn't write anything down. I basically just handed over my car and my keys, and that was it - no paperwork, no signature.

Communication throughout the process was abysmal. Anytime I was told I'd get a call back, I'd have to call back a few days later just to get ahold of anyone - and even then, they'd often deflect until I felt like I had to harass them twice a day to get any information. It took a month to get a diagnosis, and yet another for them to implement the work.

I got recommendations for unnecessary repairs that had already been performed in the last year or two.

Two months after I had originally dropped off my car, I finally got a call that everything was fixed up and ready to go.

The first thing that happened was that my bill was a lot higher than what I had been quoted and approved, to the tune of about $500.

The second thing that happened was that the problem that seemed like a transmission issue was back with a vengeance. That problem had gotten worse to a point where my car wasn't even safe to drive on public roads anymore. This problem was evident the moment I pulled out of the lot, and at literally every stop until I brought the car back.

When I talked to the owner about this, he sounded surprised about the check engine codes I provided, saying that those were transmission codes. They were the same codes I provided when I dropped the car off on day 1.

I was quoted about $2000 on top of the $2000 I had already put in, bringing the total to the value of my car if it were already in perfect mechanical and cosmetic condition.

When I brought up the negativity of my entire repair experience to the owner, I was asked if a "rockin' deal" on a new transmission would change how I felt.

What is the raw deal I was getting before supposed to be called?

MVP Subaru somehow managed to nail every negative trope about a scummy mechanic shop. Everybody's got their list of local businesses they recommend - this one is on my list of places to avoid.

The folks at this shop are super helpful! Had an ABS light on and some erratic behavior from my XC70 brake system. Took it in and found out a bolt had came loose, likely after we drove some rough backcountry roads. Same thing they speculated was wrong when we talked on the phone. They gave me a replacement and sent me home without a bill. ABS light is fixed! Nice to have a shop you can trust who really knows their stuff

These guys are rad for sure! I drove 50 minutes just to use the shop and I will definitely do it again.

These guys are great. They replaced the head gaskets on my ‘09 Subaru. It’s a big job with lots of things that can go wrong. Their work was perfect and they even cleaned that parts that weren’t replaced. Robert was the mechanic and he did a great job. They have our business for life.

The BEST. Paul has been taking great care of my cars for 18 years. Everyone who works for him is an expert. I can’t imagine him putting up with someone who wasn't. Not delivering the best would be like insulting himself. Total integrity and pride in his work. I completely rely on him.

Great experience at MVP Volvo. Had a flat tire, called, able to get in following morning, only took 30 minutes to fix. Paul, the owner, was easy to work with and honest. Highly recommend!
