Newport Kum Yon reviews
17Eek! I found out today why the parking lot is always empty. Except for the vehicle of an uninformed and unfortunate traveler once in a while.
I ordered the chicken and it came out it was very grissley and fatty so I sent it back for another dish and they still charged us for the original dish. Do not recommend.
We hadn't eaten here in several years. Their prices were high and the orange and lemon chicken we ordered was like eating shoe leather. We won't return!
The only thing they did well was the pork fried rice - and that was because it was made fresh. Also, Mango Lemonade was pretty good. Otherwise, small portions, high prices, pressed chicken that had been obviously bought (not made), and warm sushi made the experience another data point in the rule of: don't trust chinese food bought at the ocean. Also, the hot and sour soup was the egg flower soup with hot and sour mix tossed in!
Chinese food always hits the spot no matter where I get it from.except for this place. This is actually the worst Chinese food I've ever had in my Asian life. The sweet & sour pork has been sitting under a heat lamp for so long that it's become a sponge and had tomatoes in the sauce for some reason and shrimp tempura is poorly breaded (most likely frozen store bought. The chow mein on the menu is actually Lo mein (noodle dish) so that's how I know the Chinese food isn't authentic. So don't get it confused when you order food there. If you want noodles, look for chow mein. The Almond Chicken is a chow mein style dish had soggy chow mein noodles which are suppose to be crunchy turned out to have a disgusting texture to eat. The Almond chicken I'm pretty sure was also a frozen chicken due to how translucent the vegetables were and the taste of old carrots. Everything here just wasn't good on my dinner plate.
Was an overall meh experience. Service was good. Found a hair in my food. Otherwise some items, like the sesame chicken had nice flavors. BBQ pork tasted old
This place has great food. Lots of fresh veggies. The servings are huge and the people are nice.
Love this little place. Food was great. Staff was so nice & helpful. Environment was so peaceful (nicer inside). Close to the beach. Had burgers & fries for those that don't like sea food. We'll be back.
Best Mongolian Beef & egg flower soup ever. Friendly & great service eating in or taking out.
We tried this place based on the recommendation of locals. We were not impressed. The flavors were very different than other similar restaurants, but not in a good way. We would not go back.
I absolutely love this place! After 16 years in Austin, TX getting spoiled by incredible restaurants, I was afraid I wouldn’t find a spot I loved as much in Newport after moving here but I was so wrong! The food here is incredible, the service is exceptional, and I always feel so welcome. Oh! And along with the food tasting amazing, it’s always so hot and fresh
Waaaay too expensive! $19 for a hamburger is insane. Shorted me on fries.
You also get extremely small portions for their “dinner” plates that are overly priced for what you get.
Not worth the money. Not filling at all.
This place has really went downhill. I remember when it was the best in town but after tonight we will never eat here again. To start we called in an order for pick up it was nice and quick but when my husband got home with it found out they overcharged us $15. Then we sit down to eat the Bbq pork is way dried out fried prawns way over cooked the sweet and sour chicken was the smallest serving I’ve ever seen but ended up not eating anyway because 2 bites in my husband found a hair in his. Note to self never want Chinese food on a Tuesday again.
Delicious food the best egg foo young I've had in a long time service was great and very friendly
Their egg flower soup is the best I have had anywhere. I saw a review saying the sweet and sour chicken was a frozen chicken patty. I disagree. The way it is prepared is very similar to chicken katsu and I love it. It is nice and crispy instead of absorbing all the sauce and becoming mushy like most Chinese places. The staff is friendly and helpful. Overall, my favorite Chinese place on the Oregon coast.
Very nice great service excellent food tasty
I ask to add and remove some ingredients and they were more than happy to
definitely l ll be back for more yum yum
Had Mexican chef cooked Korean food.
Chinese, Japanese and Korean foods are available but taste was not as usual.
A couple more choice to have Asian food in Newport that can not recommend!
If Chinese food want to have? Lee’s wok is much better.
And across street Thai food restaurant will be much valuable.
