They quote you different prices and tell you on the phone that it is covered by your insurance only to bill you later. They should not tell patients it’s covered by insurance when it isn’t. And then when you pay out of pocket there are tiers and they quote you the wrong price. For example tier one can be anywhere from about $11 to about $70. That is a big difference. I am low income paying out of pocket because my insurance won’t pay and then they quote me low prices and then bill me. I called to make an appointment with a nutritionist and was told it was $25 and then got a voicemail saying it might be $45 to $55. This place needs to get their act together and quit telling people the wrong things. Also, I called to complain about this and the office manager never answers her phone and doesn’t return calls. Also, the doctor there was not compassionate about my severe abdominal pain (turns out it was my gallbladder) She told me “use tahini dressing and to see a shrink”.

They listen, take their time with you, and pull from and integrate every medical paradigm to prevent and heal from disease. And they are affordable. They don't pretend to offer "silver bullets" like some mainstream and "alternative" health practitioners. High level of integrity in my experience.

NUMN showed a complete and total disregard for appropriate consent practices during my short time as a patient with them. Initially upon entering the lab for my bloodwork to prepare for IV therapy, I looked on the wall and saw a printed flyer with a cartoon image on it that read ‘Be careful what you say, I stab people with sharp objects for a living. ’ It was clearly intended to be funny, but was far from it. I made a formal complaint and was told that I would be contacted by the director, which never happened.

Three weeks later, when I went in for IV therapy, the student placing the needle placed it improperly and I cried. I had a normal human reaction and before they even gave me the option to retry the needle placement - they immediately removed my from care at the clinic due to the fact that I cried.

These people are untrained, uneducated, unkind, unaware and unacceptable medical practitioners. Do not trust this clinic.

Inside the clinic building at the NUNM Health Centers is a medicinary (think herbal pharmacy) that sells supplements and herbs to anyone who finds their way in there. No, they do not sell cannabis. They do have both Chinese bulk and western bulk herbs, tinctures, and an assortment of salves and lotions. The medicinary's quality assurance program is such that they only carry brands that do second party testing so you can be sure that the supplements contain what they say and are free of contaminants. They also have their own medical laboratory. You can get an appointment to see a Chinese medicine practitioner, get acupuncture, or see a naturopath. It is a teaching school so you will first be interviewed by a student who reports to the doctor. The doctor will eventually show up to ask any questions the students forgot and to deliver your treatment plan. It is up to you to be organized enough to present your concerns clearly and to ask the questions that you need answered. The lacking 5th star is because visits can be very long; plan on several hours and bring a snack if it might overlap a mealtime. The upside of the long visits is that you have plenty of time to tell your story and ask questions and get a level of care you can't get conventionally.

Don't go here if you expect to get professional service or have the staff value your time. Appointments are regularly hours late and it's definitely a school before for the students before it's a clinic for the patients.
