Ocean Odyssey Vacation Rentals, Yachats OR

I had rented a cute house through VRBO that is managed by Ocean Odyssey. I unfortunately had a death happen in my family the night before my trip and I decided to not leave town. I contacted Ocean Odyssey and let them know I would not be making my reservation and they were extremely kind and compassionate to my situation. I’ve been refunded the money from their end of things, and I look forward to booking directly with them in the future. It’s refreshing to have a company that has compassion for their customers.

We used Ocean Odyssey for two Oregon Coast rentals in October and November of 2022. Both rentals were fabulous and our transactions were seemless. Peter and the other employees were a delight to deal with.we had the misfortune of ending one of our trips abruptly, shortly after we arrived. He went above and beyond by giving us a partial refund though we had not asked. And most importantly, he was kind and compassionate when we called to update them on our circumstances. We will absolutely book with them again!

We rented a place called watercolors in Yachats. It was on the beach which was nice, but the house needs work. Doors stick, lights are out, and things just need to be updated.

The kitchen doesn't have enough spoons, glasses, or basic kitchen supplies. They really need to update things for the price they are charging.

I talked to the owner of the company who rents the house and he says they are going to make all of the updates so that is rad. I have always had good interactions with him which is great.

I am very pleased to say that I was contacted right away regarding our reservation, and everything is all set for our trip in a couple of weeks! The gal I spoke to on the phone was very kind and explained that Peter has been running everything alone up until a few weeks ago which explains the lack of communication from prior. Thank you again Ocean Odyssey for your quick response! We are very excited for our stay and will update our review after!

My husband and I just booked a stay at one of OOs properties. I replied to the initial email regarding our card info early this morning and also called and left a voice mail. I thought to try looking up some reviews about the company to see what we might be looking at and after reading them I am concerned that I may not hear back from them. We were so excited for our trip in a couple of weeks, but now I'm feeling a little on edge not knowing if our reservation will go through or not. I hope to get some response soon!

I booked a property through VRBO and Ocean Odyssey contacted me via email for my credit card info. I have emailed them and called them many times for the last several months. We have a booked a place next month but I have not been able to get any response from Ocean Odyssey. So frustated and concerned.
Update: I was contacted last night by OO Rentals and back on track for my July rental.

We have a booking with this rental company that we made ~ 2 months back. 50% payment has been deducted and as our trip is coming up we haven't been able to reach any staff to make the remainder payment and get a confirmation. This after leaving four voicemails over a week. At this stage, we do not know if we even have the rental or any means to talk to a human.

Was immediately contacted and everything is back on schedule. Excited for our trip. Will add to this after our experience!

I’m just be looking for someone to call me back for my trip coming up on the 17th of June. The balance has still not been taken from my account, though I approved it in time. We’re not even sure if we still have the reservation. No details how to obtain a key. Just trying to get in contact with someone but there is no email or phone response.

After reading all the great past reviews I had no doubt this would be a good experience. So far these people are nearly impossible to get ahold of! Based on recent reviews it seems I’m not the only one having this issue. I attempted to contact them 4 times in various ways. On the 4th time I finally got a call back. They took my card information and didn’t process it like they said they would which makes me wonder what they did with my card information, but I see others have had a hard time making payments as well. I didn’t ever think I’d see the day where a company isn’t eager to take your money! I hope I can update this review into a good one!

After a rocky start of having a hard time getting in contact with Ocean Odyssey (which I'm now told is a staffing issue) I'm excited to say that I finally got through to somebody who has been friendly and helpful. Looking forward to our upcoming stay in July and will be updating my review again once we've had a chance to finally go on our much needed vacation!

We have been coming to our little vacation rental house twice a yr for over 20 yrs. Peter at Ocean Odyssey Vacation Rentals is a delight, and has made our stay and the process of it so much easier. He worked alone during the pandemic to keep everything afloat. The cleaning staff has kept the place clean. We are already booked for two more stays. I imagine we will continue with our biannual visits to Yachats for as long as we, and/or the little beach house are still standing.

I have been trying to reach Peter by email and phone. Haven’t received any response. I have rented a cottage, which has all been paid for. We are supposed to arrive in 3 days but I have no information on the rental. Sure hope I didn’t get scammed.

We just returned from our trip to Yachats. We absolutely love it there. The home we rented, Beachfront Charmer, was very unique. So much character and charm. Would definitely rent again. However, we arrived about 430p, the "cleaning crew" was just leaving. But I'm not sure what was cleaned. There was cob webs and dust everywhere. An old cork from a Cava bottle, and the tip of a Christmas tree. We vacuumed, mopped, dusted and pledged the furniture. The vacuum was half full of Yuck. We should not have had to do, but I could not have walked around in socks and felt like it was clean. Oh, and the drawer under the oven was so slimy and nasty. About made us vomit. We paid quite a bit for 4 days, to have to do own cleaning. Definitely left this cute place better and cleaner than we found it.
I emailed OO, on the 24th, but have yet to get a response. Usually better than that. And in our previous experiences, have never had such an issue.
Hopefully they get this figured out and fixed.

My husband and I made reservations to rent a home on the beach back in December of last year.
Due to huge storm that hit the coast the day before we were to arrive Peter called to tell us that the home we had rented was buried in the sand. My heart sank however thanks to Peter he was able to place us in another home that turned out to provide us with the best vacation ever.
I’ve not met Peter in person but I’ve got to say he bent over backwards for us. I’m forever in his debt.
We can’t wait to go back.

Update - April 5th: After posting the original review, OO contacted us and confirmed our reservation and was timely sending us information about the cottage, check in and check out times, codes, etc. We were very happy to have confirmed the reservation and understand that it is still a process in getting back to a regular way after all that has happened over the past few years. Thank you OO and The Roberts for such a lovely beach cottage! Everything was amazing! Very welcoming, relaxing, clean and a great location to town. We will definitely be back!

Like many others, there has been NO response back from Ocean Odyssey regarding our April 2022 reservations. We made the reservations through VRBO on February 12th and received one email from OO for the final balance on March 2nd. We initially missed the OO's email (junk filter) and have made several attempts since then to contact OO via email (3 times) and phone calls (3 times). Not once have we received an email or call back regarding our reservations! This has been more than frustrating as we don't know at this time if we still have a reservation.

We fell in love with the home, property and view as soon as we saw it! We are / were so looking forward to a little weekend get away, but now that excitement has slowly faded!

I am hopefully after reading the previous reviews that someone will reach out to us, but feel it is very unprofessional to have to write a review to get a response.

UPDATE: Peter called shortly after we posted our review, was apologetic and got everything squared away. We are happy now and are looking forward to our stay! Thank you Ocean Odyssey!

We booked our stay for August even after reading the reviews other had left. In the beginning we were willing to give the benefit of the doubt because the owner called us fairly soon afterward to confirm our payment information. However, we have been trying to contact Ocean Odyssey to submit final payment.have called many times and get no response. We really want to keep this reservation, but we are at a loss as to what do since we haven't been able to make contact with staff. So for this reason we are giving a 2 star rating.
