I accompanied a 89 yr old family friend to her appointment and was flabbergasted at the lack of respect and common decency she received. Her appointment required eye measuring and photographs. She is in a wheelchair, and unable to stand anymore, and the technicians became frustrated with her for not being able to stand to properly reach their equipment. She was made to feel as though she inconvenienced them, was a burden, so they rushed her and became frustrated, visibly. Your duty is to provide proper care and respect to any, and every patient you interact with, chair bound or otherwise. Absolutely unacceptable.

BEWARE! Make sure you ask to speak with a cost estimator before your visit. I was charged $2256 for a visit with a specialist to get a second opinion on a floater. I had been seeing EyeHealth Northwest but my issue was not getting better and so wanted to double check I am not going blind or have something more serious going on. The actual service I received was ok. Very professional and personable staff.though they had me wait a LONG time to actual see the specialist I had an appointment with. More importantly, before seeing me, her assistant came in and said the doctor wanted better pictures of my eyes and sent me down the hall to get an ultrasound which billed at $1234! I get that OHSU is a first rate institution, but I would have appreciated some dialogue about this expense prior to incurring it.such as a short visit with the specialist who could talk and examen me and then decide if that expensive diagnostic was necessary and let me be part of that process. SO MY ADVICE FOR OTHERS: MAKE SURE TO HAVE A CONVERSATION WITH THEIR COST ESTIMATOR BEFORE BOOKING YOUR APPOINTMENT! Healthcare costs are up to all of us to play our part.
