Not sure why I’ve never left a review but I gave birth to my son at OHSU via c-section in December 2016. My labor was long but the hospital staff was so great with me and my husband. The nurses on all shifts were helpful, kind, and patient. I didn’t realize how great everything was until I had my second son at a different hospital and the experience was not as great. So thanks to OHSU for leaving me with a beautiful experience.

They will keep you alive. Beyond that, they made my mom wait outside for me in the freezing cold because they couldn’t confirm she wasn’t a disease vector while they also let hobo teens do pda in front of me because they were too aloof to be confrontational with people who weren’t as easy to victimize as my mom. Additionally they lied about having a library. Just because they don’t allow er admins into the library doesn’t mean I need to be lied to about the fact that there is one or whether I can get invited into it. If you have feelings there that you are dealing with people who are over their heads, rude, or unable or unwilling to help you, just know that other people do care and want to help.

Definitely not my choice for hospital, staff service is ok. But the billing department is big mess, keep messing up with my billing even though I keep telling them to bill my new insurance not my old inactive insurance. The billing department customer service is terrible too. Just plain rude with their tone of voice, making you feel like you are stupid while you trying to ask questions. Overall it’s been terrible dealing with billing department.

My latest experience at this Hospital was simply amazing. I was treated for a very severe internal ailment with care and professionalism. The staff are awesome and provide a sense of care unmatched by any hospitals I've been to. The facility is clean, comfortable and maintained to perfection. Thank you OHSU for the wonderful experience. These people are patient and proper. Definitely #1 Hospital in the North West.

Please explain to my how is it okay to have someone come into the ER in an ambulance at 9pm at night after getting into a roll over accident and losing consciousness and not get them into a room till 7am the next morning.running absolutely no tests NOTHING. After you were all aware his heart stopped. I wouldn’t recommend this place for your worst enemy.
Please do better.

If you ever want to go to school here and not from usa don't even waste your time or money. Its a 2% acceptance rate and when i asked for before applying they said they did not know the accep. Rate. Now i know that was a LIE. They just want your money and to take money from people in other/poor country's. Sickening.

The staffs and providers here are unprofessional. They don’t care about you or your health. This hospital used to be the best but now it’s gotten downhill. My grandma had a stroke and was remitted to ER. The nurses didn’t do their due diligence to check in on her. They gave her a pan and placed it underneath her to pee on when they could’ve walked her 2 steps to the toilet. My grandma ended up reeking smell of urine throughout the day. Then the doctors and nurses didn’t even come by to give us a proper discharge. No plan and no instructions were given on what to do or how to care for my grandmother. This hospital is horrible and I DO NOT recommend this hospital.

WHAT A JOKE!

I went to their ER three times and wasn't treated even once.

Dr. Kim, in internal medicine, ignored my characterization of my symptoms and diagnosed me with a runny nose and anxiety in about 1 minute of our video call. (Because THAT's how women are treated in medicine, even by female doctors. It's a well-documented phenomenon in the research literature.) When I refused to accept this stunning malpractice, they fired me as a patient instead of take into account anything I said. Turns out I really was deathly ill with a serious illness that my grandfather died of at the same age.

I wouldn't trust this place with even a runny nose.

Ohsu has great medical staff. However, their work flow for getting things like PET scans is primitive. They have no way of looking across locations to schedule at the earliest. You have to dig up the phone numbers. Call each location. Call the Dr to request they order at that specific location. (The Dr can’t do the order for any OHSU location. The locations won’t do anything). So OHSU is not cooperating with itself.

Pretty sure they used the patient as a teaching tool. Heart attack (LAD STEMI) in progress, delivered by ambulance- STEMI was already declared en route. They kept the patient 45+ minutes to flow through a work up, then said "cath lab is occupied, want to be transferred to St. Vincent's? " This is during an active MI (ie, high pain), without any caregiver present. She opted to go to St. Vin. OHSU should have rerouted that ambulance and spared the patient the 1.5 hour of cardiac damage that occurred with the transport and workup delay. I'm sure OHSU is a great learning center, but I wonder about the very real patients that seem to always be secondary to the lesson. This is a recurring theme there.

When I was 21, I had an infection inside my shoulder joint. At first I went to Legacy Emanuel where I was treated less than human and they didn’t help me at all but they kept me for 3days only to let the infection get into my blood and told me I must’ve pulled a muscle then discharged me. Later that night I got a horrible fever and the abscess grew out to my back where it was very noticeable. I went to OHSU the next morning, they had me in surgery that night (after doing tests). The doctors and nurses at OHSU saved my life. I was there for 2weeks after and not once did anyone treat me less than. I recently had to visit the ER again and it’s still the same. It’s the only hospital/doctors office I go to now. The people who work there have always treated me with care. I would highly recommend going here for medical care.

The nicu nurses are phenomenal! (Only a couple I didn't like). My son was born a month early due to complications, and they took excellent care of him and me! He had a hard time keeping his stats up and with eating and gave us all numerous scares! They are the most wonderful people ever! He is turning 2 in February. He's my little Evil Knievel! Thank you for everything you do!

Our youngest son, who is severely handicapped was taken by ambulance to the ER at OHSU. He was very ill with influenza and pneumonia. Given the time that our son was at this hospital, he received the very best professional care available.
The staff members who stand out are Anzu and Allison plus several others did a outstanding professional care for our son.
I want to thank all of you!

Our son was airlifted to OSHU and spent 5 days at the TSICU. The doctors are professional and timely and personal. I was so thankful for each one of the doctors and nurses as they took attentive care of our son. When we arrived home I needed to call the trauma center a few times and the doctors were just as caring and helpful over the phone which was a relief to me.
