7 Geyser in Oregon.
On a road trip through SE Oregon, we made a point to stop and see this geyser. It was a little difficult to find at first, but a friendly local pointed us in the right direction. The geyser didn't disappoint and spouted high into the air every few minutes.
You can access the geyser pond from the Hunters Lodge (resort). Wear good shoes as you will have to walk a short distance on a dirt trail through tall grass. We encountered a huge bull snake (harmless thank goodness) sunning themself across the trail in the morning sun. This just added to the adventure.
The place worth stopping by if you are close to the area, but not worth any extra driving. Specifically if you saw the geysers before. We watched it in the late November, and it works every 5-10 minutes. Beautiful, but not as spectacular as Old Faithful for sure. The area looks abounded unfortunately.
Bummer. Waited fifteen minutes but no such luck. Little bit of gravel shoulder to pull off on. Thankfully the street wasn't very busy.
This was a neat surprise to find in the middle of nowhere. We read reviews online and thought we’d check it out. You access the geyser by turning down the driveway for Hunter’s Hot Springs Lodge. You can park and walk right to the pond where the geyser is at. The timing between the eruptions wasn’t exact each time and sometimes the eruption lasted longer than others. Pretty neat to see, didn’t spend to much time there but worth the visit.
Was surprised to see it geyser! Definitely not a timed & predictable thing but I swear it was waiting for us to notice before it decided to show off! Thank you mother nature!
One geyser that is really active! However, it was created when there was a failed well drilling attempt.
There is no water here so no spray or bubble up. There was steam coming up on the side of the road where there was a small streaming. Hunter Hot Springs is right next door!
