I just completed a week long stay at this KOA. It is the perfect campground for off roaders. There’s plenty of room for your RV and also your toys at each site. In addition to the campground store, next door is an off road rental and parts store in case you need gear or parts. I stayed in the Southern Pacific caboose (not the one at the entrance). It was so cute and cozy! The bed was very comfortable and, although I didn’t use it, it also had a pullout sofa in the caboose. Included also were a coffee pot, microwave, and fridge. Outside was a private side patio with a table, chairs, and a bbq grill. Down the steps was a fire ring just for use by the caboose occupant. I expected the bathroom to be small, but it was spacious and well laid out. All of the employees at the campground were pleasant and helpful. The store was well stocked with camping items, games, gifts, and food. I enjoyed the train ride, jump pad, ice cream social, and axe throwing. There are quiet hours, but outside of those expect off road vehicles to be coming going from the dunes. I had a great time at Coos Bay!

Great place to stay for access to the dunes, sites are pretty tight but as a new to RVing I'm finding that RV sites are generally pretty packed in. Lots of options for other accommodations that do seem pretty interesting. Cabins, caboose' covered wagons lol. They have it all.

We have stayed at this KOA several times. It is dusty because it is right on the dunes. The staff is friendly and they have a nice dog park for my pups.

This KOA never disappoints. Marjorie in the store/office offers kind friendly service and she goes out of her way to help. It’s clean and well kept and we’ve been coming for 4 years now. Thank you all!

The check in policy says you can call for early check in, I arrived 20 minutes before 2pm, she told me she would allow it this time and this time only! If that's the case, change your policy!

Customer service at check in had much to be desired. The woman was rude and disrespectful to our request for an early check in. We arrived 20 minutes prior to check in.

Other visits to the check in/store during our stay, the staff were on their phones and lacked attentive response to people entering and approaching the counter for assistance.

Good customer service and simple kindness goes a long way to influencing return campers.

Few issues you should be aware of:
- staff are unfriendly and unhelpful. I let them know the bathrooms are all broken and there is no toilet paper. The response was "uh huh". My family decided to drive in to town to use a working toilet
- there is no hot water in the showers. Hot is cold, and cold is ice cold
- there are no hooks in the showers, so you can bring anything in with you (clean clothes, etc.) And your towel gets soaked while you shower
- the room was never cleaned. Food wrappers all around and on the lawn (half dozen or more), garbage can lid covered in food, and bowl or rotten mashed potatoes in the microwave. Bad smell that didn't go away
- the staff won't give us all our shower tokens that we paid for during our stay. We were told they would ration them to us daily. We like to get up early, shower, and head out. So we have to stay at the resort later, request our daily showers, and then head out OR not shower that day until we return home. Both are irritating
- the laundry room was a mess. There were old mats being washed in the machines so all washers and dryers were full of dirt, gravel, sand, and animal hair
- many items in the store had no prices. When politely asking what items cost, the response was "I don't know". So we bought nothing. A simple "let me check for you" would have gone a long way
- the guest (Albeit out of KOA control) drove around the park late at night with flashing strobe lights and loud music. The cerfew was not enforced at all
- lots of garbage laying around. Pair of dirty underwear with feces sat on the floor of the bathroom all morning. Staff were informed but no effort to promptly clean this or replace toilet paper (the likely cause of the dirty underwear)
- at times there were no working toilets for men. So the men had children guard the women's doorway and enteres en masse

When we reached out to KOA about these issues we were told it is a franchise and therefore not an issue to the corporate franchise. So essentially the individual staff don't care, and the franchise does not care (about it's brand)

Any one of these issues would have been a minor inconvenience, but it seems there is a complete lack of care in all the basics at this KOA. I won't ever stay here again, and I don't intend to use a KOA any time soon in the future. Very disappointing. Won't be back

Really good customer service and nicely stocked store (they have beer and wine!). Unimpressed with laundry room which was too dirty for us to want to do our laundry, the only amenity we really needed. Otherwise, really good.

We reserved well in advance but wound up in a dusty pit which turned out to be the overflow parking with only outhouses and far from then amenities. We have stayed at KOA’s all along the coast for the past week and really enjoyed them all but would not recommend this place. We left.

We have been camping at Oregon dunes KOA for 15 years. They have always treated us like family and Steve and his wife are great. They have fixed many of our toys to get us riding.
We don't stay anywhere else.

We booked 2 sites over the phone, we are traveling along the Oregon coast and this has been the worst KOA campsite that we ever found in the USA and Canada, we paid $67 dollars to park in the parking lot beside the Highway with no bathrooms, we were far from the actual campsite right beside an ATV rental place where people are testing the ATV 'S making a big cloud of dust, we brought this to the attention of the staff and they didn't offer any form of compensation.
Next time we better stay at a rest stop or parking lot and we won't pay for a bad service, in top of everything they wanted to charge $15 for the sani dump a real ripoff! The staff is not really customer oriented

We have always enjoyed our time at this KOA, but it has gone downhill. We have stayed here for 7 years, same spot every year. Show up and apparently they have no record of us ever staying in that spot. Took them awhile to figure out where to put us. The customer service was TERRIBLE. They sure like to make it sound like you made the error, even though we know exactly where we always stay and pay the $10 site guarantee. The garbages were overrun everywhere, the bathrooms were really gross and it looked like no one cleaned them. We stay here every year, but next year we will be making reservations elsewhere.

If you like ATV'ing on the dunes, this place is probably great. We aren't those people, though. We were more hoping for a campground by the dunes that was more pedestrian friendly, but there isn't really any pedestrian access from here. Oops.

I wouldn't recommend tent camping here. It's very loud. 101 is right nearby and pretty loud. ATVs regularly come and go, sometimes until midnight. This is the main source of 3 stars. After 3 nights off rough sleep, we were pretty drained.

It can get pretty windy. Setting up a tent in the wind isn't fun. Had we packed a couch, I'd have had to sleep on it after the things I said.

Bathrooms are clean. There are private showers, which is nice, but each person is limited to one 8 minute shower per day.

There's an ok playground. One slide was broken. They have a large bounce pad the kids loved. They rec room would be impressive, but it's worn down; most games are barely functioning. The zipline wasn't operating.

The staff was fantastic and very friendly and helpful. They gave us some cinder blocks to anchor our tent and answered all our questions (we must have come into the store a dozen times, lol).

We booked our three full service campsites 7 months in advance. We drove all the way from Canada. The day before are arrival they called and said they were moving us to the “south side” of the camp ground and it was dry camping. We weren’t super happy but still agreed. When we got there we weren’t even in the campground we were in a gravel pit they made literally a week ago with huge crushed rock. The lady at the desk was very rude to deal with. They still charged us full price for this “camp spot”. They also charged us to dump after even after we originally booked full service campgrounds.
Great site for atving but awful customer service. Only shout out is to the maintenance guys who tried to help us make the campsite decent.

I had a yearly reservation with the campground and then due to Covid I had to push my reservation back 2 years in a row. Being that we STILL have border restrictions I was not going to be able to make it again this year. I called on May 28th to see about changing my July2 reservation. I was told by the girl on the phone that they could change it but their system won’t let them until that month, but that she had made a note to do the change and that I could call back on July 1 just to make sure. I called back on July 1 and was told that their policy changed last week and they would not be honouring my reservation change. I said well I was told it was fine so that’s annoying but whatever I will just take my refund then. Then I was told sorry too short of notice to get your refund. I said how is that possible I called in May for a July reservation, and was told it was fine so why wouldn’t I have canceled then and got my money back if that wasn’t the case? The girl was rude said that she would talk to her manager but she will say the same thing. Also said she would call me back and never did. One other thing we paid the site fee of $10 to ensure that we would have our same spots and that wasn’t the case either they had us all over the place according to the computer because I said that my site was #5 and the girl said hmmm no. Anyways I would love a refund of my$72.30 for my reservation because I really don’t see how this is my fault and that I should be penalized for THEIR lack of communication, I did what was required of me on my end. I really hope you can get this figured out and let them know that’s no way to represent your name. I expected better from a KOA but that is a zero in customer service.
