I am so glad we pay public officials to sit around and do nothing to help us with the staffing shortages. Why does it take Oregon4-6 weeks let alone 4 months to get a license's issued or endorsed? People that want to work can't because of the lack of response from the OSBN and their attitude when they do respond. It's time to start doing your jobs in a reasonable amount of time other states seem to have their acts together.

The person who emails back in response to questions is quite rude. I wish I could reach someone in person with a simple phone call, would have saved a lot of back and forth emailing.

I'd give zero stars if I could. I lost a job due to delays in renewing my license.
I moved and my license expired 8 months ago. I practiced in Oregon with no issues for 13 years. My renewal has been in process for 8 weeks and no one at OSBN will respectfully communicate with me about a status update.
I am licensed in other states and have NEVER had such a terrible experience.
Oregon, do better.

Negative stars if I could. Absolute horrible service from Oregon state and they will continue to be in a shortage of healthcare professionals. First of all there are no phone representatives to answer any questions or help you with filling out applications. The website and application instructions are not helpful. Since there is no way to speak to someone over the phone you have to send an email and wait weeks to get a response. Then when you do get a response whoever is answering you has a horrible attitude and something smart to say. I was told to read my application several times as if that would help. The application is a copy of what you filled out it is not a handbook. How about you do ya job and answer the questions I have. There is no professionalism and a huge delay in issuing licenses. After 200 dollars and waiting over 6 weeks for my license I was told my fingerprints would take another 6-12 weeks. It is a challenging process for NO reason. Oregon needs to revamp their licensing process and hold their employees accountable for their unwillingness to help.

They do not want nurses to care for the people of Oregon. They used to be a fine informative, helpful and organization. They have changed their portal so many times. I did not get updates and the status of my application said my prints were not reviewed. They do not take phone calls and years ago when they did the agent was rude. I asked for a reasonable accommodation after an head on collision and they refused. Very sad to see a board of nursing when I share in their mission and devoted my life to being a professional nurse.

I applied for my RN license by endorsement on 5/9/2022. Despite my status page showing that I had completed all of my portions of the liscensing process, I never received my license. After a year, my "in process" application changed from "in process" to expired. Over the last year, I have emailed the board repeatedly and only received replies that redirected me to their useless online portal. I have also tried to call repeatedly, but they say on their recording that there are no customer representatives to answer questions about, well anything. This is the absolute worst interaction I have had with government at a local, state, or federal level. Like others commenting here, I would give negative stars if I could.

It's important to understand that the hold up with receiving a license currently has to do with the back ground checks. It is currently taking at least 7 weeks from the time your fingerprints were taken. There is no number to call to ask for questions which is honestly not ok. We need to be able to call and get questions answered and not having the ability to so can also part of the hold up. Email and through the nursing portal in your account is the only way to communicated. Communicating through email is met with resistance and half answered questions. Communicating through the portal can take up to a week for a response. Nurses are tired and quitting in unprecedented numbers and this honestly just adds to the stress. We have to do better. I almost lost my job over having to wait for my license to come through. I was beyond stressed in an already stressful situation.

Literally been trying to get a license for travel nursing since December 2022. Zero communication and just condescending replies from them. My exemption license expires soon and they’re still saying 6-12 weeks. I won’t be returning to Oregon to say the least.

No stars if I could. It is 3/6 and I submitted my application by endorsement 1/25 and am being told it’s going to take several more weeks for them to even review it. For god sakes, hire some people Oregon.

Complete incompetence and inexcusable behavior. Stop using the excuse of “we are short staffed” to not do your best to get people licensed and renewed! You need to speak to people with respect. Your bad attitudes aren’t helping the nursing crisis. We don’t get to use that excuse out in the field or neglect our patients; the directors, admins and suits have to put on their running shoes and hit the floor to help. It’s time to reevaluate your priorities and GET THE JOB DONE. UNACCEPTABLE!

I have been licensed in the state of Oregon before. My Renewal is taking months. Their customer service offers 0 support! Their snarky replies and lack of actually caring about their nurses is outrageous. I am licensed in several states and Oregon is the ONLY state I have had problems. You would think they would care more about their nurses. Shame on you Oregon State Board of Nursing!

I remembered the good old days of receiving a renewal card in the mail and sending it out 10 minutes later. Those days are over ugh! You poor new licensees. I passed the nclex 20 years ago and my license was in my mailbox 2 days later. With all the new technology we are regressing? !
