Oregon Zoo reviews
16The elephant show was super nice. The carousel was so nice. P. S. Don't get the train it is a little bit disappointing
The Oregon Zoo’s highly promoted 2015 expansion “Elephant Lands” has not made any significant improvement to the wellbeing of the zoo’s five Asian elephants. In fact, in terms of bullying, it may actually be worse. The outdoor area is around 3 acres, but elephants have been programmed for thousands of years to travel far and wide, covering many miles a day. They need vast amounts of space to avoid traumatic encounters, especially with males whose aggression is exacerbated during musth.
This a great experience. The design among the trees and plants and the size and layout of the animal enclosures make you feel as one with nature.
Portland Zoo is one of the best you can find nowadays. Absolutely wonderful and expansive exhibits. Really taken the time to think about the animals and not just "make sure the customer can always see the animal in this small area".
Food could use some work, it's 90s cafeteria food at best and the train is worth skipping unless your kid REALLY likes trains. That's not what we go to zoos for though.
The reservation system made it feel less crowded and more manageable. Went first thing In the morning and it was wonderful.
Not a bad zoo by all means but tickets were pricey for everything you get to see.nice to see the exhibits work around the landscape but all the talking for the animals were at the same time as most other ones as well as there only being morning showings with the zoo keepers.id advise to show up early n pick n choose which animals youd like to see so that you can also hear the zoo keepers talking abt them as well.over all i would say a good experience though.
It was a lovely fall day at my favorite zoo. Small crowd, lots of opportunity to see the animals, if they were awake.
Bathrooms were clean and plentiful. Food carts were also plentiful, with decent choices (price may be shocking tho' but all goes to the Zoo/staff). The staff was friendly and engaging.
Well maintained zoo. All the animals are nicely taken care of. Labor Day was crowded but still nice. My only complaint is they had all there shows at 1 or 1: 30 so it wasn't possible to attend more than 1 show, sadly. Hopefully, they will stagger the show times in the future. Very friendly and knowledgeable staff.
Had a blast at my first time there. Wish there had been more vegan options in food, but loved the animals.
Great place. This zoo has a circle walking path to visit the animals. I suggest you follow the right path direction. We thought we would just do it own thing and ended swimming up stream the whole time.
Very nice and big zoo. Looked to us that the animals were well looked after and lived in well kept surroundings
I grew up in Oregon and have since moved away and visited many zoos, but this one is still my favorite. Clean and well designed, with friendly and knowledgeable staff. The prices are decent for food and drinks, and the animals actually appear to be happy and well taken care of.
I WISH I COULD GIVE ZERO STARS TO THIS PIECE OF GARBAGE ZOO! THEY ALLOWED STONEY, AN ELEPHANT, TO SUFFER AND DIE A SLOW AND VERY PAINFUL/EXCRUCIATING DEATH! ANYONE WHO GOES HERE - HAS BLOOD ON THEIR HANDS! ALL ZOOS ARE GARBAGE! STOP PUTTING YOUR HARD EARNED MONEY INTO SUPPORTING ANIMAL EXPLOITATION! ZOO HABITS ARE SMALL AND EMPTY! IT'S LIKE A HUMAN BEING LIVING IN A CLOSET FOR THEIR ENTIRE LIVES! WE WILL NEVER STAND BY AND ALLOW ANYONE, ANYWHERE, TO HURT, EXPLOIT, ABUSE OR NEGLECT ANY ANIMAL, EVER!
Way better than the zoo in Seattle this place is amazing definitely worth every penny, a comfy pair of shoes and get ready to wander around this beautifully curated zoo to some amazing species
The parking is a joke, the parking spots are too small even if u have a tiny car. Finding a spot is hard to do no matter the time of the day. The animals look bored and the animals homes look under kept and lack of luster for any animal, no clear directions to the exist. Ridiculous prices for train and carousel.
