People's Food Co-op reviews
24Great spot, good selection of vegan food, good people. The beer section could be a little larger though.
I make it a habit to stop by and get some great coffee and a lot of smiles. The shop is well operated and makes you want to come back every week. I choose this shop over most for my morning coffee.
Good control over store customer volume during the pandemic. Nice selection of items I was searching for. I like the little farmers market on Wednesday.
People's is a great place that values the environment, and community. It's not a big place and there is no meat (a plus in my view but a heads up). People here are friendly and they have a great farmers market Wednesday afternoon, highly recommend
People seem really nice here. They take necessary steps to ensure they follow Covid social distancing rules.
Unfortunately it took me more than 25 mins to get a refund for the mango that’s really bad I bought from this place 36 hours ago.
I was told the mango was on sale and usually because they are about to go bad. Not sure if that’s a legit reason to sell bad fruits.
A good place for lower price bulk goods, and can order for you, such as a 50 pound sack of Kamut wheat I once bought. Good produce, homestead DIY shop style sundries, ex: metal spring based holders and wicks that you can use to turn recycled jars into lanterns. All about the organic and earthy thing. A co-op, memberships available. Sells cultures for making yogurt, and also raw milk. Nature food store brands available.
This coop treats its workers great. It's small but it's a great ethical place to shop. Certainly better than New Seasons or Whole Amazon.
Love this neighborhood gem enough that I often make a special trip if I'm nearby! Excellent selection of organic bulk items and a scale so you can bring your own containers! Great for reducing waste and eating well at once! They also have a nice produce section, well curated "dairy" case with lots of vegan options, and enough of yt? He basic dry goods that I don't feel like I have to go to another store when I'm done here.
I live in Chicago just 1 block from Whole Foods. My daughter lives by New Seasons Arbor Lodge. It is more expensive than Whole Foods on most items. However, the quality of the food is outstanding as is the service. Great store
People’s Coop has been our “go to” for organic foods, and safe outdoor spaces to share community with for almost twenty years now. We couldn’t imagine Portland without it. Thanks People’s Coop! ️
Great community resource. Not just a coop grocery, but a community center and gathering place. They curate the best local, organic and sustainable foods for you! Beautiful fresh produce. You could go package free if you bring containers for an extensive bulk section.
What an awesome co-op! Wonderful hand picked selection of products, staff was cool and in a nice quiet neighborhood. I came through from out of town and stalked up on a bunch of nice stuff, I was very pleased to find the place.
Back to basics. Great prices and service. Just wish there was more room, pretty tight. Great farmers market on Wednesdays all year around. They have a terrific Harvest Fest in the Fall.
One of my favorite things about People’s is that they research all their products thoroughly and choose the ones that are the most local, organic, sustainably grown, worker supporting, minimally packaged & processed, etc.
That way I don’t have to read all the labels all the time. Thank you!
Wow, rudest place ever. Literally was scolded by the bitchy cashier for setting my hand basket at the wrong angle at the check out counter. Then another member came over and gave me a lecture on how I should be considerate of their cashiers because some of them have bad backs. Sorry if you can’t lift a carrot, maybe you should find another job. And for god sakes put some underwear on and pull up your pants.
This is one of my favorite co-ops i've ever been to.i always find everything i need under one roof, which is the best feeling.the weekly farmers market is my favorite in Portland.
You wanna know what it was like to shop for groceries when I was a kid with hippy parents in the 80s? Here it is!
One of the last bastions of the small alternative food stores from the 60's that sprouted up in Portland. They've gotten a lot right, and are still interested in keeping up with product variety and things you can't get at larger stores. We were members in the 80's, when we lived closer, and they've only gotten better.
Such delicious food in a lovely little space.
The products they offer are very good and there is a nice selection.
The staff we interacted with were very friendly and seemed to really enjoy being there, we will probably become members even though it is a little bit of a drive for us to get there. I really appreciate and respect the co-op model and what it stands for.
Great community gatherings, kombucha on tap, incredible organic selection and incredible staff.
