Pittock Mansion reviews
16Beautiful. The best views of Portland. We took the 20 bus from downtown Portland to the road entrance for the mansion, hiked up the road just over 1/2 mile (uphill, be prepared!), touted the mansion and grounds, walked to the entrance of the main trail leading to Washington park (Portland zoo, Japanese gardens, rose test gardens). It was an excellent hike through the rainforest, truly beautiful. We caught the free shuttle that runs through the park, saw the rose gardens and zoo, then it was a short walk to the entrance of the light rail yellow line back to Portland!
We didn't have time to go inside the mansion. The gardens and the view were incredible.
Beautiful place but no where on the website did my photographer or I find that we couldn't take pictures inside without reserving the mansion. When we walked in we were told that we could take pictures but not to touch the exhibits.
But a few minutes into exploring we were stopped and told we couldn't take "event pictures" only "personal pictures" but what constitutes a personal picture? It seems arbitrary, and at no point were we asked what our pictures were for. What's the difference between someone taking pictures of their grand daughter with an iPhone, a big camera that they travel with, or a photographer/friend with a camera?
We were respectful of others trying to move around, and never monopolized a space. Which is better than most families I've seen taking pictures.
They might as well say that there's no "camera" photography. Needless to say they need to put signs up and make it more clear on their website.
We were very disappointed, especially after paying 70 dollars to get in.
We didn't want to make this stop at first, but it turned out to be the highlight of our day. Super interesting to see how modern this house was at that time.
I enjoyed the visit to Pittock Mansion. I was able to avail of the Cultural Passes through our local library and get two free adult tickets and one child ticket.
Beautiful view of downtown Portland, OR. The grounds were very taken care of. A $1 per half our to park and we did not go in nice mansion.
Local history with a trip back in time. Beautiful grounds and wonderful news within the must see Washington Park
It's always a great place to visit. A wonderful art exhibit downstairs as well that I loved
A very good location for a bird's-eye view of Portland and Mt Hood. You can also take a self-guided tour of the mansion for a small entrance fee.
Didn't go inside but took the back path down to the Rose garden from this hillside mansion.
I had such a wonderful experience. The scenery behind the mansion is breathtaking, and inside is just as wonderful. It's amazing how they still had some of the original pieces and furniture. I find the staff helpful and answered my questions about the mansion.
What can I tell you… I would like to live there! What a beautiful place, my husband and I are passionate about history and this mansion is the dream of anyone who loves this.
Despite the years, the building is intact and the luxuries of the time were palpable. If you are in Oregon, do not forget to visit this place for the world, the gardens are dreamy and there you will be able to see many objects of the time which are not You can photograph, but here I leave you the little that we were able to capture
Historical place. Awesome house. Great architecture wonder for that Era with state of the art features that had its kick and lux for that time.
Great views of the city, pretty garden, calm, peaceful location, lots of trails, interesting historical stories
Pittock mansion is a must see! The view is amazing and free! It does cost $15 to go inside and see the mansion but it's very grand and doesn't disappoint.
