Port of Hood River reviews
14Over priced toll for a busted old bridge for some people to literally just sit there and take your money. Drop the price loose the fat people collecting money and put in a coin coller
What a scam. Multiple erroneous $8 crossing charges on my invoice.
But you have no choice and they know that.
While I sat one day in backed up traffic on the bridge for a half hour, I estimated that this bridge pulls in AT LEAST $24million a year.
I AM GETTING BILLED WEEKLY FOR $30 DOLLARS, INCLUDING A LATE FEE? WE PAY CASH OR CARD EVERY TIME. ONE AFFTERNOON "SYSTEMS WHERE DOWN, CASH ONLY" SOMETHING DOESNT SMELL RIGHT. WHO DO I CONTACT?
These guys suck. I would avoid this bridge at all costs. The people who work there hate their lives and they WILL scam you! They just raised the price for crossing as well. Won't see a dime from me suckers!
They are now charging $2.50 an hour too park at boat launch. Yet bathrooms are closed and only one stinky porta potty. Screwing the local residents every chance they get. Vote Current commissioner out! If they choose too run again.
The Port of Hood River’s Button Bridge is a monopoly that’s been extorting money from locals and visitors for years. Since there is no other reasonable option for daily commuting the Port is able to set the toll price however they see fit. They’re completely free of any free-market competition. The bridge is now over a hundred years old and instead of replacing the bridge years ago they’ve bought up more and more properties to increase their own profits while mismanaging the bridge into obsolescence. The state of Oregon of Washington should be running the bridge, it should be publicly owned so the public has a say in its operation.
Went into the Port of Hood River to pickup an additional transponder in lieu of the mailed one and the lady working the desk was incredibly rude! She didn’t want to help me find a solution to access the $25 in my account to pay the toll bridge fees. There’s a clear lack of leadership and absolutely zero customer service in that office. Lady: sorry if you’re having a bad day but no need to take it out on those you are paid to help. Maybe you need a new job?
A great wonderful business they always respond to my messages on Facebook and are the nicest most caring people. I can tell them anything they're my best friends they'll that cool!
Lady at the toll booth with a green kia always keeps trying to argue, always. She has the nastiest attitude and all she's gotta do is take my 2 dollars when I pass.
Absolutely TERRIBLE people running the bridge toll booth. They are extremely rude if you don’t have cash. Toll Collector 111 was a so rude when I passed by there last night all over 2 whole dollars. Either get nicer people working the booth or a card option but do better.
TERRIBLE! THESE PEOPLE ARE SCAM ARTISTS! My family and I were on vacation and we used the bridge to visit the scenic view on the other side. We prepaid the outbound and return trip with cash on site at the manned toll booth. We were not provided a receipt at time of payment and told that we do not need to pay on the way back because we already pre-paid our return trip. The traffic on the bridge was terrible and when we returned on our way back multiple lanes were blocked by the police. Now 2 months later we have a surprise $25 bill from them saying that we did not pay the toll when we in fact paid the day of in cash. I am so upset that they purposely try to take advantage of visiting tourists! DO NOT USE!
Traffic on the evening of 9/24/2022 was bumper to bumper, the toll booth operator was on the phone calling for help because of a accident on 84 and the traffic backed up to a 40 minute wait to get to booth
9/24/2022 07: 47 PM. Paid the toll booth operator $2.00. The driver on our right raced thru the outside lane causing me to hesitate and now I have a "Unpaid Toll Notice"
Very inaccurate system that desperately needs upgraded. I think you are using it to push BREEZEBY accounts that still experience the same type of failures
Well over thirty bridges over the Columbia River in the US and the only two with tolls are in Hood River County. Its an obvious racket. Small town greed.more pork in someone's barrel. Having read some other reviews, dont believe the inevitable liar that spits out damage control for every negative review. Avoid this bridge unless and until the toll booth is removed, if you can. Period.
We had not been to HR and then over to the Washington side for years. On the way over, we asked the man in the booth if we pay one way or both. He said one. So when we returned, we didn't pay. A couple weeks later, I get a bill saying I had not paid. I called and the lady said the operators all know you pay both ways. What a scam.
