Portland City Boxing reviews
5LOVE THIS BOXING GYM! The people are amazing and welcoming, the trainers are incredible and knowledgeable, price is unbeatable! Classes will have you dripping sweat, no doubt. People want you to succeed here and are cheering you on. Welcoming and inclusive to LGBQTIA+ and BIPOC. Overall, amazing time at this gym.
A bit conflicted with this gym as my boyfriend and I went on and off for about a year. The parking sucks if you are trying to go in the evening times - but that's not really their fault. The classes itself is a good work out - however this gym focuses more on burning a lot of calories without teaching proper form and technique.
PROS - Rates are very reasonable, a good size facility where you can work on your own bag, small section for weight lifting is available, classes do burn a lot of calories so expect to burn around 500+ calories per class. A lot of availability of class times to choose from which can work with anyone's schedule.
CONS - Parking sucks. Although the weight room is there, if there's more than 2-3 people in it, it gets too crowded. Sometimes there's kids/teens who just hangs out in the weight room and just takes up space but they're not really working out. The coaches do not really teach you specific form and they throw very large combinations towards a class that's predominantly beginners. If my bf and I are confused with the combos and we've been doing boxing for years now - then no doubt would the beginners be confused too. The coaches sometimes do not go around and help and correct form. But again, these classes are structured to help you burn a lot of calories and make you move a lot. But in terms of learning technique for boxing? It's an area of needed improvement.
Really clean gym and cool staff but never want to return calls, supposedly has allot of coaches but never take the time to reach out. Just my experience
Really enjoy the conditioning classes. They’re tough and push your limits, but are rewarding as heck! Great coaches, positive vibes. Happy I joined.
