Portland Creative Framing

By far the worst experience I've had at a local business. I was accused of trying to get product information to go online and buy materials for less. What a bizarre way to treat a customer.

I wanted to get a poster matted in a frame we had (I had hoped to save a few bucks using an existing quality metal frame and glass we had). I came in around 30 minutes before they closed, and felt a bit rushed but chalked it up to my timing.

They thought the frame was a bit too big and would be a lot of mat in the frame. I was quoted $125. I asked what that included because I thought it might only be just for a mat out the door. They said it included mounting, mat, and to cover their labor to disassemble/reassemble the existing frame. I wanted to talk with my partner who wasn't with me to get her thoughts before investing in something that might not look right.

I asked if there was a number I could reference when I return to make sure the correct measurements and color mat was chosen. That's when they dismissively walked away and accused me of wanting the info to go online and buy the mat. I tried to explain that I just wanted something to reference when I return. She said she saved the info in the computer, but doubled down on the accusations, so I left and will go to another local shop.

The whole experience was a bit shocking. I owned a retail business in Portland for over a decade. I know it can be hard selling high end products to locals. This is why I prefer to support local businesses, but who wants to support a business that makes false accusations toward them and treats them like garbage?

Everyone here is so sweet! They totally respected my budget and did such a good job. I’ll be forever grateful how well my little otter on his clam car turned out. Again just A+ service, A + timing, A+ outcome. Thank you again everyone!
