More good than bad. I had an LTD 256p with what I thought was a bad ground buzz that was annoying but playable and they re-soldered it for 60$ (that was their solution after I’d explained it I bought it with a shady wire job, tried to rewire it myself and wasn’t sure if I had it correct) and got it all done on time and was happy to take it home. Plugged it in and it sounded much worse, unplayable. Before the repair my noise suppressor was enough, and I almost didn’t bother but for a 60$ fix I went for it. Took it back, and after 2 weeks was told it was a lost cause, and at the last minute he decided to try a couple things. 2 weeks later he called me and had fixed the wiring issue and it sounds great. Very happy. Glad he took the time to go over it and save me the hassle of going to another shop. He also did not charge me any more money either which is cool. However, and this is what actually bothers me. I dropped it off all set up and intonated in D standard, and had let them know when I dropped it off the first time. When I got it home it was in E standard, super tight strings and a tight neck. Needs to be set up again. Must have sat that way for a few days. Overall I’m just glad to have it fixed. I’d still recommend this place to other people because they are very busy and have stellar ratings but personally I’ll go somewhere else next time just to explore different options. I’m sure my experience was unique after seeing how many gokd ratings they have

Excellent work done at a fair price. I had the electronics repaired on a couple of Fenders. Friendly service too. I had to wait nearly 3 weeks, but it was worth it.

Brought my Les Paul in for a refret and fret marker replacement. They did an OUTSTANDING job, can't believe how nice it is/plays!

Mike did a killer job on my D35. He did a complete refret, new bridge and saddle, fixed the truss rod and repaired a small separation in the binding. Stellar work and the guitar is setup to my requested specs l, all for a reasonable price. Will be coming back again.

I have yet to get my guitar back; it should be done in a couple of weeks; I'm anticipating exemplary craftsmanship from Todd! I've seen the level of his work before; that's exactly why I went to him. Todd's knowledge provided all the answers I had questions to.

My most recent guitar purchase had a wonky master volume pot so I took it to PFW for a diagnosis. I'm not a guitar techie, but I had a suspicion about the trouble. They immediately confirmed the problem that I guessed, but also an additional trouble. They gave me a fair estimate of cost and a timeline of 4-6 working days. Both seemed fair and I left the guitar with them. Was I surprised when I got a call the next day that the guitar was ready! These fellas are very knowledgeable, friendly, and professional. You can't ask for more from your luthier!

They’ve done simple setups; they’ve installed pickups and tuning machines; they’ve fabricated new nuts or fixed buzzes & rattles that I couldn’t locate. Every time I pick up my instrument from them it’s exactly what I wanted. Save yourself the headache and just stick w/ Fret Works.

Acoustic or electric, the craftsman of PFW will take care of you. They made my Japanese Stratocaster play better than ever and resurrected a literal garbage Olympia from the dead.

I had a great experience getting my guitar a partial re-fret. The initial encounter on the phone was great service answering my questions and encouraging me to bring in the guitar for an assessment. Recommendations and options were provided with pros / cons of each approach and budget considerations. The workmanship was great and I am pleased with both the job that was done and my interactions with the entire staff.

My son took his guitar here to be set up. He just told me he is so excited because his guitar plays so much better than before and he is able to play passages faster and cleaner. Also, he had an issue with the E string breaking. Portland Fret Works went above and beyond to sleuth down the problem and his guitar is working flawlessly. BIG thumbs up for this shop! PS My son's guitar has a Floyd Rose locking bridge and they did a great job with it!

High quality job done. They setup my PRS CE 24 perfectly. Took great care of it. Highly recommended!
