Providence Hospice - Portland reviews
4We really enjoy working with Jennifer McGarry and her hospice team at Providence. Jennifer is extremely quick to respond and reach out to our family members in need of more information. We appreciate how Providence works with families in all different situations and are willing to give them what they need in that moment. Recently we experienced them going above and beyond utilizing their hospice doctor, chaplain, social worker and nurse to give support and work as a team. We will continue to refer families to Providence and Jennifer. Thank you all!
While my Mom had a great experience with the nursing staff taking care of my Dad, the gentleman who was assigned to pick up the equipment my Dad used was the most insensitive rudest person ever. My Dad passed away last night and the gentleman who came to pick up his stuff today was to busy on a personal call to even acknowledge my family. I would of liked to have gotten his name but like I said he was to busy on a personal phone call. He left items in the front yard instead of explaining to my grieving Mother that they were hers to keep. He couldn’t take two seconds out of his day to say hello or goodbye. My husband and brother in law helped him get the stuff together just to get him out of my Mom’s home. I am surprised that Providence has people like him working for them.
When a loved one is dying the last thing I needed to deal with were the rude staff at Providence Hospice. I believe the person I spoke with the other day was Renee and she couldn’t have been more pushy or rude when she found out I wanted to use another hospice company. After reading other peoples reviews regarding Providence Hospice, we wanted to use a different company. Instead in a very rude tone, they told us we had no choice but to use Providence. I later found out that it was completely our choice and we shouldn’t have been forced.
I had a terrible experience today with a nurse in this place. I couldn’t believe she work for providence health and in hospice… a very cold and mean nurse! I called to clarify a morphine order and what was supposed to be a simple conversation became very difficult with this hospice nurse sounding frustrated, unwilling to listen, acting as if she is being bothered and outright mean…. It was truly a sad experience! The unfortunate thing is these mean nurses knows how to spin the story around to cover their bottoms. They make good organizations have bad reputations! I have had great and professional encounters with some of the hospice nurses in this place but today was such a horrible treatment! When I asked her why she sounded so aggressive while all I am asking is clarification of a simple order so the patient can get the correct dose, her cold response was “I am going to end this conversation “ and shamelessly hanged up! If you are looking for best experience for your loved one…avoid this one and use Tenderly hospice (the best), Agape hospice… just to name a few. They are amazing to work with and their nurses are THE BEST!
