Rainbow House reviews
15Food was ok, but I was super disappointed in the fried wontons. There was pretty much no filling in them at all. Fried rice portions that come with the entrees are very small.
It's Sad that this shows as a buffet & The Buffet has been closed for a while. Was told to go to Bar to order food.
Just moved here and tried this place. AWFUL! First the website was completely wrong so the price is wrong. I ordered on line and they didn’t give me a total so I was shocked when my order was double the price! Then my order was wrong and they did not care! Terrible place. Doubt it will be open much longer with such awful food and service. Lady in front of me had her order screwed up as well and she said she was shocked at the price as well since they charged her more as well. According to the website my order should have been $34, instead it was $62! Unbelievable. I should have walked out.
First time here. Did a takeout order. What the menu states and what you really get are a bit different. Lemon Chicken and the General's Chicken is not lightly fried. The chicken is as usual overtaken by all the batter. The General's chicken was old it wasn't even spicy. We ordered 2 entrees but only received one rice and they didn't ask if we wanted steamed or steamed. The fried rice was very bland and nothing special. The menu is a little vague on what you get with an entree. The place wasn't busy at all in fact no customers to speak of. It is a normal run of the mill American Chinese place! Nothing really is homemade from scratch. The dinner was hot but not fresh and well we tried it out.
The first 2 times I ordered from here, it was so good. Todnight, 10/22, I ordered all the same entrees and we had problems. First, the spicy chicken didn't have hardly any chicken, it wasn't as tasty as I remembered, and they only filled the container 3/4 way full. And It was greasy. They also shorted the vegetable dinner container. I was so excited about this place, but it only took a months time for the service and food to change. Though, their high prices stayed the same.
Had Mongolian beef and orange chicken both me and the wife very happy. I will be eating there again soon.
Atrocious service. The restaurant is closed half the time to dine in because nobody shows up to cook. Overpriced food, the lack of civil courtesy among the servers and the fact that you usually have to eat in the bar makes it one of the worst dining choices in Albany to be found. Hard pass.
I would give this place a zero rating if I could but there was no option for that. They need to have someboy answering For two I live over an hour away and decided to order food for our little family get together and I assumed everything was in the bag when I had got home I open the stuff and had realized none of my extra stuff was in there nor was my three pork fried rice is that I ordered with each of my meals that I had to also pay $4 each for! I had ordered and spent around $100 on everything plus getting extra this an extra that which all the extras came to like $48. I’m not upset that I had to pay for all the extra I am upset that I did not receive the extra! Then when I called to see what they will do to make it right she could barely understand what I was saying I couldn’t understand what she was saying at all she told me yes yes come inside and I’ll have it all for you. So I get there and she has a large fries and a small one and she says that is all that I had ordered because she remembers vaguely taken the call when I didn’t order on the phone I place an order online!
Classic Chinese takeout. Gives me the same nostalgia of picking up food in the early 2000's. Prices, like everywhere, have inflated. However still reasonable for the portion size. Like Costco I always end up with much more than I had intended. Started visiting more often as A B Chinese had been sold out of a lot of options the last year and a half or so around dinner time.
Let me start this post by saying we dine in in the bar because they close down their dining section. I have 2 elderly people home right now very sick. Who wanted rainbow house food so I went to get our normal order To Go. I was informed because it was to go. I had to pay extra for the soup which you normally get when you order the $21 a plate for Dine In. I told her that that was Not right at all and what she really going to charge me for the extra one soup. She replied yes extra you want soup or not. I got the soup but beware of them shorting you items that you normally get. It's not really about the soup. It's more about the principle of the matter. Ripping the people off!
We each (2) ordered the number 4 to go. The almond chicken was good, as well the rice and sweet and sour chicken. The bbq pork was almost non-existant, 5 small pieces in each order. I asked for an extra hot mustard and got thin, watered down, that hardly stayed on the pork when I dipped it in. We didn't get our orders off soup that usually accompany the number 4 meal.
Worst food ever. Everting was cold and old. Hard bbq pork and stale noodles. Cold deep fried pork, chicken and shrimp. Lukewarm chow mien. Don’t waste your $$. They used to be good but not anymore!
Very sad that the restaurant part is closed. Only bar and take out available. Great food but not the way I want to enjoy.
From the food, to the wait staff to the atmosphere, this place is the best place to have authentic Chinese food in Albany. Get the hot tea to start and order Szechuan Beef with fried rice. You won't regret it!
Be open! You can only eat in at the bar? Give me a break either you are in business or shut it down
