Edit2: So after speaking with Melanie last week, a carpet guy showed up today to finish up. My door shuts great now, and the carpet is tacked down so people don’t get tripped up on it. He even hammered down the nails sticking up through the carpet by the kitchen. I feel like I could have company over now!

edit: It’s been weeks, and I’m still waiting for my carpets to be fixed after this repair…I’ve tried Brenda at the office and the maintenance number. Help?

When I moved in there were nice carpets, but a strange circular water spot in the middle of the floor only some days. Maintenance was able to pinpoint a tricky leak, and had the walls patched and painted fast. Thanks to Jonathon and Oscar for all the help and the dry carpet.

Based on the number of times Jonathan has fixed work orders in my apartment, I could tell he is a very nice person who is very serious and diligent with his work. He also has a very nice sense of humor.and feels like he has much experience with what he does.

This review is based on my moving-in process working with Patricia! I am from the Portland area but for the past four years I have been living in England. I knew I wanted to move back to this area and Patricia was so helpful working with me so far away, and also with a couple friends I have that were able to tour the apartment for me and receive the keys. So easy and Patricia is so friendly, thank you so much!

The maintenance Tech Jonathan Ruiz is pure awesome! Knocks out any service requests I have promptly and really goes out of his way to make sure everything is up to YOUR standards. Dude stayed AT LEAST 40 minutes past his clock out time just so I could run a couple things by him. Jonathan man if you read this just know I appreciate you brother! -Monsae

The maintenance staff are super friendly and quick to respond. Despite a delay in the delivery of an AC that was to be replaced, Jonathan and his assistant got the work done efficiently and well before the heat set in. Super relieved with that!:)

I would like to give a big thanks to Patricia Palacios for helping my family and I with the whole moving in process. Definetly sets the bar very high. As far as the property, it is beautiful and went beyond my expections, very aligned with nature.

I had to rent my apartment site unseen due to COVID-19. My studio is basically a dingy 1970s motel room complete with carpets full of dirt and cat odor. Steam cleaned the carpet 4 times before I moved any furniture in, still can't get rid of the smell. They've told me I need special approval to have grab bar/handrails installed for safety.the step out my patio door is nearly 1' drop onto concrete and maintenance staff told me "at least your concrete is in good condition". Steps leading into the building are also missing handrails. This is unsafe, and unsanitary overall. I'll be calling the city inspectors since they didn't take my requests seriously and were very condescending. Maintenance staff told me, "You must have lived in a nicer place before, I don't know what your expectations are. "

Over the years I have enjoyed living here at Rock Creek 185th. From the serene ponds to the lush grass areas, this complex offers a calm, very clean, quite neighborhood feeling. With recent updates to parking lot lighting it feels that security is a priority here which other apartment complexes disregard. I am pleased by each staff member I encounter including friendly maintenance crew to the kind leasing staff in the office. If your young looking for your first apartment or retired looking for a relaxing place to call home Rock Creek 185th is the place to be! Centrally located near major shopping areas as well as schools nearby. Thank you to everyone at Rock Creek for making this place a home for me and my family!

I’ve lived here for a few years now. The management that we have now has been great at communicating and looking out for the community here. The place is older so you can’t expect it to be super perfect, but the grounds are nice with the little ponds. The geese and ducks give you entertainment and cool to see the babies:). They updated the lighting on the grounds to make sure we all feel safer and can see things clearly.
The newsletters are helpful during the time of this pandemic we are experiencing, they are even looking out and teamed up with a mattress company that’s making masks and they will have enough To provide one for each unit if residents wish to receive one. They are taking care of residents who are going through a financial hardship due to COVID-19 on ways how to pay rent or make payments and are not charging a late fee. They have really stepped up during this time of need where everyone should really be looking out for each other and providing a helping hand where you can.
Thank you for making it really feel like home during this time.

I left a review on another venue a couple of years ago, and figured it was time for an update. We have lived here for 6 years, and can honestly say that it's the best place we have lived in Portland. In fact, I'm rating it 5 stars - not because its perfect, but because it's a place where happy people can have a great place to live. The complex is older (1970s?) but it doesn't really feel dated. One of the biggest attractions of the Rock Creek 185 complex is all the green space - more than any other apartment complex I've seen in Portland. There are huge green lawns, towering trees, and flowering bushes and shrubbery lining the walkways. There are three enormous ponds with little creeks connecting them, and floating fountains in the centers to keep the water fresh (and create a wonderful soothing sound). It stays green here even in the winter, and in the fall, the leaves are New England picture postcard style. There is also plenty of parking. The insides of the apartments are perfectly fine. They aren't super-luxurious, but if you want that, you're probably looking at other places anyway. When you move in, it's clean and freshly painted, with clean carpets, clean appliances, and clean cabinets and surfaces. Our unit has a washer and dryer, which although not the newest model, is kept in excellent condition (and many buildings in the complex have pay washers and dryers for those units who do not have them). Our kitchen appliances are not brand new, but work very well. There are so many units here (at least 400 I would imagine) that appliances vary due to being replaced over the years - some of our neighbors have much newer appliances than we do.

One of the things I have appreciated about this complex in the last few years is that maintenance and repair needs are taken care of super-quickly and cheerfully. I've never had a request denied and I've never waited more than 24 hours for a response to schedule the repair. Emergency needs have been taken care of immediately, and the maintenance supervisor, Polo, is fantastic. Polo is VERY nice and ultra-skilled at his work, always working behind the scenes to help the entire maintenance crew do their best work too (something he did even before he became the supervisor). His professionalism engenders a lot of trust and respect from the tenants (we all talk about it, and I see it mentioned in lots of reviews). Not only does he prioritize things well and fix what needs to be fixed, he also fights for what he knows is important to the tenants (like a recent replacement of the outdoor lights). He is absolutely top-notch, and It was actually another great experience with him today that made me think "I need to write a new review! " Another benefit to the complex is the management and leasing staff. The current COVID-19 situation prohibits as much in-person contact as usual, but they are always a phone call away, and are always very friendly and responsive (shout out to Stasia in particular). The return of Melanie into a managerial role added immediate and obvious organizational benefits, and the complex manager, Jessica, has a tough job, but does it with grace, working hard to make sure that the parent company is aware of the needs of the complex, and prioritizing relationships of mutual respect with tenants.

Finally, the community here is wonderful. There are all kinds of people here - some people keep only to themselves, others are more chatty as they walk their dogs or spend time outside in the spring and summer having barbecues at the scattered picnic tables - but most that we've met are happy to exchange a friendly hello and look out for one another.

To prospective tenants: The positive reviews much more accurately represent what daily life it like here at this complex, and in terms of the amount of rent charged. Portland rents are going up.that's just a fact. I feel that the price we are charged here is not only competitive in the current market, but also pretty darn fair considering the environment the complex offers. It's special.

I’ve lived here for going on three years now, and my experience has been amazing. From my move in to adding my boyfriend to the lease to solving any issues I’ve had, Rock Creek has always been great for me. Maintenance guy Polo is absolutely wonderful, efficient, kind, and willing to go above and beyond to help this place be my home. The office staff have always listened to any concerns I’ve had and are super nice as well. I have a studio and love it. It’s outdated, which is the only reason I’ve given it 4 stars, but it helps make this place more affordable. I love the ducks and geese and I’ve never had any issues with neighbors or noise. I really love calling this place home and am hoping to upgrade to a one bedroom next year. Thank you all, and thank you Polo for being a rock star. Love this place!

The friendly staff, very attentive facilities crew (Polo truly leads by example) and the natural lush landscape are just a few reasons why I love my home here. I am easy to please by nature, but the interactions I have had with the office staff have been very positive. I know the facilities crew works very hard with the up-keep here, and Polo takes a vested interest in any concerns. There have been many improvements made to the complex, including a number of flood lights and regular security patrol. Polo and the maintenance staff have been working tirelessly to ensure common areas are sanitized. Maintenance requests have been responded to and resolved within 24 hours, if not the same day.
The units are built decently, but like any shared shapes, they are not 100% sound-proof. This is where you'd hope for and work out fellow neighbor consideration if any noise issues arise. The environment and neighborhood are quite and lush, with beautiful landscaping and wildlife (ducks, geese, squirrels). Location close enough to the city but off the beaten path enough to feel tucked away from the hustle and bustle.

Lived here for two years. A good location, with the strip malls within walking/biking distance. I thoroughly enjoyed watching the geese and ducks have their ducklings and goslings every year and even managed to get close to them semi-regularly.

However, with the exception of the winter time there always seems to be some kind of construction going on and they're not exactly quiet about it. Would not recommend to people with sensitivities to sound or those who work night shifts and have to sleep during the day.

It’s not bad but it’s not great either. They use cheap materials to “fix” things. Walls are super thin. I can hear everything from my bedroom window. It’s good for the low price.

I was fine with this place for the most part until I got debt collector calls 6 months later for unpaid fees from Rock Creek. Seeing as nothing ever popped up in my portal while living there about anything unpaid, it kind of pisses me off to say the least that the actual apartments couldn’t follow up with me themselves.
As far as the location goes, it’s fine. I do appreciate the friendliness of most of the staff, and the fact that they have studio apartments. I think it’s a little silly seeing how much the prices have gone up since, but seeing as I didn’t have an option at the time, it was a good place to have a studio. It was hard for me to leave because it felt like home, but the location is definitely not without fault. Although it has the benefits of being close to a lot of the better Tanasbourne area, and right off of the freeway, they make it seem a lot nicer in the photos. The hallways look like a dorm hall, and the rooms are a bit dingy. My sink continuously had water leaking from the sides, and the air conditioner cover fell off the same day I moved in. While I liked having a balcony, I was right next to the pool, so I could hear kids screaming during the summer up until 10pm - super nice when you have to work in the morning. I got barely any of my security deposit back, which besides some cleaning faults, is probably because the place was “broken” before I even moved in. There’s ample parking on the backside of the building which was nice, but the residents tend to speed through the areas where barely one car can fit through, so I’m surprised there’s been no accidents yet.
Overall, I think you can do better for a one bedroom location. This place is adequate, but is in need of actual repairs before it can justify raising it’s price.

Rebekah has gone the extra mile and been very responsive in the application and move-in prep process! We got a great deal on our new apartment home and are excited to move in here. The customer service I have received from Bekah and Stasia (hope I spelled that right) has been 10/10. Thanks RC185!

Jessica Bell the manager of rock creek 185 is rude and has poor communication skills. She has an inability to deescalate situations. She will threaten to kick you out and interrupt you while you are trying to communicate with her and she uses her dyslexia as an arguing point and an excuse as to why she has messed up. It has taken almost a month to get the application in for a new roommate and they applied to application fee to the rent and then makes it so that we have to pay for the mistakes that they have made. She has also refused to give me contact information to Prime residential group and says she is the boss impaling that she is the Head of Prime residential group.

The assassinate manager has poor communication skills and does not even know that the paper work they sent out means. She is highly under-educated in the things she needs to know to do her job.

Overall the apartments are not bad but the office staff is rude and has an unwillingness to help and to keep residents happy.

What they seem to not understand is that they are still in a customer service job.
